Bitcoin is holding just above a broken support level at $66,900 as a potential bear flag forms on the 4H chart and the daily MACD hits one of its most negative readings of the current cycle, raising the risk of a move toward $63,000 heading into a low-liquidity Good Friday weekend.

Bitcoin (BTC) is trading at $66,891 on April 3, 2026, holding just above what was previously a horizontal support level at $66,188 after declining from a March high near $76,000. The daily Supertrend indicator sits at $74,093, positioned well above the price in red, confirming the dominant bearish regime. Volume on the daily chart spiked sharply during the most recent leg lower, a pattern broadly consistent with forced selling rather than orderly distribution.

On the 4H chart, price has formed a small ascending channel since the most recent intraday low, with the current close near $66,891 printing just above the 4H Supertrend support at $65,549. This short-term structure appears tentatively constructive on the 4H, but it sits inside a much larger downtrend, raising the probability that it is a bear flag rather than a genuine reversal.

Bear Flag Setup and Indicator Readings

A bear flag is a brief, shallow recovery that forms within a downtrend before the next leg lower. The 4H ascending channel on the Bitcoin chart fits this description: price is recovering at a modest angle, and the MACD histogram on the 4H remains deeply negative at -169, with the MACD line at -203 compared to a signal of -33. There is no bullish crossover on the 4H MACD, and the histogram continues to expand in the red.

An on-chain report by ZachXBT has raised questions over how effectively Circle enforces its compliance controls. The investigator cited more than $420m in alleged lapses tied to illicit fund flows since 2022.

The findings, shared on 3 April, compile multiple incidents where USDC linked to hacks or illicit activity was not frozen or was frozen only after significant delays.

Regulators have not independently verified the claims, and Circle has not publicly responded to the report at the time of writing.

Drift exploit puts spotlight on response times
The report points to the recent $280m exploit of Drift Protocol as a key example. According to ZachXBT, the attacker bridged more than $232m in USDC from Solana to Ethereum over several hours using Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol [CCTP].

Despite the scale and duration of the activity, no USDC was frozen during the window, the report claims. The attacker has reportedly been linked to North Korean actors by blockchain analytics firm Elliptic.

However, this attribution has not been confirmed by authorities.

Pattern of delayed or absent freezes
Beyond the Drift incident, the report highlights several historical cases involving major exploits:

The $223m Cetus Protocol exploit in 2025, where USDC was frozen weeks after initial requests
The $110m Mango Markets exploit in 2022, where funds were allegedly not frozen despite known links to the attacker
The $190m Nomad Bridge hack, where USDC remained in exploiter wallets during early stages of the incident
In multiple instances, the report claims that other stablecoin issuers, including Tether, acted more quickly to freeze funds linked to the same addresses.

Compliance tools exist — but enforcement questioned
Circle markets USDC as a regulated stablecoin with built-in compliance features, including the ability to freeze or blacklist addresses linked to illicit activity.

The Cardano Foundation is slowly reducing its dependence on ADA. According to its latest report, Bitcoin and cash now make up a much larger share of its reserves, following a year of sharp price divergence between assets.
This change shifts how closely the Foundation’s balance sheet mirrors the performance of Cardano’s native token.
In its 2025 Activity and Financial Insights Report shared with CryptoSlate, the Foundation reported total assets of 287.5 million Swiss francs (around $361 million), a 45% drop from the $659.1 million it held at the end of 2024. While this decline reflects a tough year for ADA, the more significant story is the changing composition of the Foundation’s holdings.
Why it matters: The Foundation has historically been one of the largest long-term holders of ADA. Adjusting its treasury mix affects how tightly the ecosystem is aligned with the institution at its core. Lower ADA concentration reduces direct exposure to the token’s price but also weakens the feedback loop between the Foundation’s balance sheet and ADA’s performance.
