Bitcoin ETFs see outflows for third day in a row, signaling a shift in investor sentiment. Net outflows from US spot Bitcoin ETFs for the third day in a row signal a fading of the optimism that reigned at the start of the new year in the digital asset sector. This trend suggests that institutional and retail investors are entering a strategic "risk-off" phase, influenced by both technical factors and changes in the macroeconomic environment.

According to Farside, net outflows from spot Bitcoin ETFs totaled $205.5 million on Thursday, bringing the cumulative net outflow over the three days to approximately $934.8 million. While the seven-day trailing net inflow remains positive at $240.7 million, this sudden shift suggests that the typical "buy the rally" rally of early January has slowed.

 Factors Driving a Tactical Retreat

Analysts believe the current trend reflects a period of tactical position adjustments rather than a collapse in fundamental demand.

Director of Research Sean Dawson notes that ETF investors are currently facing a "perfect storm" of adverse factors. The most significant factor was Bitcoin's failure to break through the $92,000 to $94,000 resistance zone. Furthermore, macroeconomic uncertainty has resurfaced. Rising jobless claims in the US and geopolitical events, particularly the US military action in Venezuela, have forced traders to reassess risk across asset classes. As a result, Bitcoin's year-to-date gains, which peaked at 8% on Wednesday, had nearly halved to 4% by Thursday evening.

Supply Failure and Blockchain Reality

Blockchain data shows that Bitcoin's short-term recovery faces significant challenges.  According to Glassnode data, there is a significant "supply gap" between $92,100 and $117,400.

This surge has reignited bullish sentiment in the crypto market, especially as SOL approaches a key resistance zone near $150.


At first glance, the sharp rise in DEX trading volume signals more than just speculative noise. It reflects a clear shift in trader behavior. Capital is returning to Solana-based protocols at an unprecedented rate.


As activity increases, so does liquidity. This combination often strengthens price discovery and reduces downside friction during volatile sessions.


Solana-based ETFs Achieve Record Inflows


Meanwhile, institutional interest appears to be aligning with the growth on the blockchain.  Over the past 24 hours, the Solana ETF recorded a cumulative inflow of $801.31 million, supporting the idea that major players are preparing for long-term investment.


BSOL led the way with $638 million, followed by GSOL with $130 million. Only TSOL recorded negative inflows.


Unlike short-term spot purchases, inflows into ETFs typically represent strategic capital. Such participation tends to maintain price stability during key technical tests.


Institutional investors are also increasing demand.


Meanwhile, derivatives markets are sending bullish signals. Solana's open interest (OI) has risen sharply, reaching $3.35 billion, indicating new positions entering the market rather than the liquidation of existing ones.


As a rule of thumb, rising open interest, coupled with strong on-chain activity, often signals confidence.  This surge also hints at the expected increase in token market volatility in the future.
