Banks Unveil ‘BankChain’ Alliance to Rival Crypto Stablecoins39 banking associations in the United States have jointly formed the “BankChain Alliance” to curb their fears of client and capital flight into blockchain-based stablecoins.

Banks compete with stablecoins via on-chain banking
Initiated by the Texas Banking Association, the consortium represents thousands of community and mid-sized commercial banks looking to develop a 24/7, nationwide, bank-governed and permissioned blockchain by the year 2027.

The network would be characterized by security and compliance just like a traditional banking setup, with the addition of blockchain infrastructure. This modus operandi would enable banks to conduct near-instant settlement of digital assets, appealing to the evolving fintech space that now favors blockchains over legacy infrastructure.

Additional features
The blockchain will feature tokenized deposits for clients to convert standard bank deposits into digital tokens on a shared ledger. This unlocks instant liquidity and transactions, while eliminating the need to withdraw funds from the bank.

Secondly, the banks plan to issue native FDIC-compliant and fully backed stablecoins. This will give clients a regulated alternative to private stablecoins like USDT and USDC.

Thirdly, the new network would embed smart contracts for automatic settlements upon the fulfilment of predefined conditions such as escrow releases.

The group is now headhunting for a technology partner to construct the network with all the features above.

The news comes amid a fierce, high-stakes political standoff in Washington over the CLARITY Act. Banks now seem to be taking advantage of the legislation’s stalling to provide corporations with a compliant blockchain system.

The scale of Real-World Assets (RWA) on the Solana chain continues to expand. Data shows that the total value of RWA on the network has risen to approximately $4.04 billion for the first time, with over 350,000 holding addresses covering more than 2,678 asset classes.

Net Inflow of Approximately $2.73 Billion in One Year

According to data from RWA.xyz, Solana recorded a net inflow of approximately $2.73 billion in RWA over the past year. This means that this growth is not just a paper increase due to price volatility, but also reflects the continuous influx of new funds into the on-chain asset market.

Currently, RWA assets on Solana cover tokenized stocks, credit products, and other on-chain financial assets. With the increase in asset types, Solana's presence in the RWA sector continues to rise.

Tokenized Stock Supply Rises to $486 Million

Tokenized stocks are one of the fastest-growing sectors on Solana. Last week, the circulating supply of this type of asset rose to approximately $486 million, setting a new all-time high.  The article states that trading traditional stocks and high-risk on-chain assets in the same market is attracting more traders.

Blockworks data shows that since June 30, 2025, Solana has outperformed all other blockchains combined in tokenized stock spot trading volume for 60 consecutive weeks, maintaining a significant lead.

Network activity is also rising.

As RWA expands, Solana network activity is also increasing. The network has processed over 1 billion transactions for four consecutive weeks, reaching a new high of approximately 1.31 billion last week.

The drop comes as crypto traders watch the payments business around $XRP change, as large banks keep rolling out blockchain systems aimed directly at the pre-funding problem. JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) is doing that through Kinexys.

In June, JPMorgan expanded Blockchain Deposit Accounts to eight currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, HKD, JPY, RMB and SGD. Customers can move those balances around the clock and swap supported currencies onchain.

A company holding dollars can receive yen without first buying a separate crypto asset to bridge the trade. JPMorgan can set the FX price, exchange the currencies and log settlement on its blockchain immediately.

Citigroup (NYSE: C)’s 24/7 USD Clearing network reaches more than 250 banks across 40-plus markets. Citi Token Services also moves tokenized commercial-bank deposits using blockchain infrastructure. Citi says combining both systems lets institutions make overseas payments quickly while needing less money parked in advance.

Real-Time Liquidity Sharing can also process payments without making banks fund each account ahead of time. Ninety seconds is still slower than the $XRP Ledger’s three-to-five-second settlement range. But companies may care more about using cash already inside a regulated bank than routing the payment through $XRP.

Investigators converted months of cryptocurrency data analysis into actionable leads during the Operation Lighthouse sprint, announced Aug. 25 by blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis.

Chainalysis described its operation targeting child sexual abuse material (CSAM):

“Operation Lighthouse investigated 29,120 cryptocurrency addresses and digital identifiers, and targeted more than 100 distinct CSAM platforms, forums, and distribution networks across the surface web and dark web.”

Public blockchains maintain transaction histories that investigators can follow between cryptocurrency addresses, although an address does not independently reveal its owner. The public nature of bitcoin transactions allows investigators to map fund movements before combining that activity with exchange records, payment data, and law enforcement evidence to identify account holders.

The National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance hosted the sprint in New York, bringing together investigators from several continents. At least nine law enforcement agencies, more than 13 private-sector partners, and specialized nonprofits participated, including Europol, the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency.

Thousands of Accounts Surface Across 125 Countries
Chainalysis reported:

“The first-of-its-kind sprint generated 14,300 investigative leads, surfaced 7,700+ suspect accounts, and identified CSAM-linked suspects in 125 countries.”

The figures represent accounts, identifiers, and investigative leads rather than arrests or convictions. Authorities must conduct follow-up investigations, obtain legal process, and establish each account holder’s role before pursuing criminal charges.

Bitcoin holds $79,000, ether, solana slip as traders bank a week of gains
Bitcoin eased to around the $79,000 mark in Asian morning hours Wednesday, down almost 1% on the day, as traders took profits after a week that lifted it 23%.

XRP fell hardest among the majors, down over 4% to just above $1.44, though it still leads the week at almost 45%. Privacy-focused Zcash dropped almost 6% to just above $783 while holding a 55% weekly gain, the strongest of the group, as a dedicated spot ETF went live in the US.

Dogecoin slid almost 5% to just under 9 cents, solana over 3% to just under $97, and tron almost 3% to nearly 34 cents.

BNB fell almost 2% to just over $695 and ether over 1% to just under $2,465, keeping weekly gains of almost 16% and 29% respectively. Hyperliquid's HYPE was the only major higher, up almost 3% to just over $81 and almost 40% on the week.

Valuation measures moved the other way. CryptoQuant's Bull Score, which tracks 10 market and onchain indicators, jumped from 30 to 80 over the week, its highest since Oct. 6, 2025, when bitcoin traded near $124,000. Eight of the 10 indicators are now bullish.

Apparent spot demand is growing at its fastest monthly pace since late December, the firm shared in a note with CoinDesk, and spot and futures demand are expanding together for the first time since early October 2025.Equities went the other way from crypto, meanwhile. MSCI's Asia Pacific index rose 1%, led by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, heading for a fourth gain in five sessions as falling crude eased inflation worries.

Nvidia snapped a seven-day losing run on Wall Street before reporting earnings later Wednesday, and U.S. equity futures erased earlier losses.
