Arbitrum, Ethereum’s leading layer-2 network, has frozen more than 30,000 ETH—worth over $71.2 million—linked to a recent exploit involving the Kelp protocol.
According to Arbitrum, a 12-member community-elected security council took “emergency action” on Monday to freeze 30,766 ETH tied to a vulnerability in Kelp. The funds were moved to an intermediary frozen wallet, meaning the original address can no longer access them unless future governance decisions reverse the action.
The move follows a major security incident on Saturday, when Kelp’s LayerZero-powered bridge was exploited, resulting in losses of at least $293 million. Investigators have since suggested possible links to North Korean hacking groups. The attackers reportedly used stolen Kelp tokens to borrow assets on Aave, creating significant bad debt across decentralized lending markets.
While the freeze was intended to contain damage and protect users, it has reignited a long-standing debate in the crypto space: how much intervention is acceptable in “decentralized” systems?
Critics argue that such emergency actions undermine the core principles of blockchain immutability and decentralization. Supporters, however, say rapid intervention is necessary to prevent systemic risk and stabilize the ecosystem during major exploits.
Arbitrum Security Council member Griff Green stated that the decision followed hours of internal discussion, weighing technical, ethical, and governance implications. He added that 9 out of 12 members ultimately voted in favor of the freeze.
The incident highlights the ongoing tension between decentralization ideals and real-world security demands in DeFi infrastructure.

Bitcoin’s price looks stable, yet the buying base has narrowed, which shifts how support forms in the market.

This happens because capital is concentrating in a few large players, while smaller buyers reduce exposure after recent volatility and uncertain returns.

On-chain data shows Strategy holds about 76% of corporate treasury Bitcoin and added roughly 47,000 BTC in 30 days, while others bought about 1,200 BTC.

As this gap widens, liquidity becomes less distributed and more dependent on a single source.



ETF flows have stabilized after earlier outflows, yet they remain inconsistent, which limits broader participation. As demand stays uneven, price holds but lacks strong momentum.

This implies the market becomes fragile, where fewer buyers mean sharper moves, and participants face higher risk if large demand slows.

Strategy (MSTR), now holds more bitcoin than BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) for the first time since Q2 2024.

Ethereum’s undervaluation continues to support the bullish case for ETH accumulation.

When comparing Ethereum’s Q1 network adoption with its price performance, the divergence becomes harder to overlook. As AMBCrypto noted, despite ongoing macro FUD, Ethereum recorded 200 million transactions in Q1, marking the network’s busiest quarter on record. At the same time, ETH underwent a 30% correction, suggesting a growing mismatch between fundamentals and market pricing.

In essence, the impact of the 2025 upgrades hasn’t fully reflected in ETH’s price yet. However, institutional confidence continues to strengthen. Ethereum’s staking participation has reached another all-time high at 32.04%, with nearly 39 million ETH now staked.
