Bitwise Updates HYPE Spot ETF Application, Launch Imminent; Will a Price Rise Follow?

Hyperliquid's US $HYPE spot ETF is set to launch soon, potentially attracting more investors.

According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, Bitwise has updated its $HYPE spot ETF application, adding the ticker symbol BHYP and a fee of 0.67%. Balchunas noted that such updates "usually indicate an imminent launch," adding that

$HYPE has grown 200% over the past year, so they may be trying to capitalize on this growth.

Bitwise first filed for the product in September 2025. A month later, 21Shares filed a similar application.

In March 2026, Grayscale joined the competition, bringing the total number of issuers to three.  Bitwise and Grayscale plan to add staking functionality to $HYPE in the future.

If approved, $HYPE will join BTC, Ethereum [ETH], and Solana [$SOL] as a leading crypto asset attracting the attention of treasury firms and ETF investors.

'Not Going to Stop at Bitcoin': Morgan Stanley Weighs Tokenization, Tax Solutions in Crypto Push



Amy Oldenburg, head of digital-asset strategy at Morgan Stanley, sees a tokenized money-market fund as a natural path forward for its crypto roadmap.

What’s more, the investment bank with $9.3 trillion in client assets could explore tax-lost harvesting strategies for digital assets via the subsidiary Parametric.

The firm has an army of more than 15,000 wealth advisors that gained the ability to pitch third-party spot Bitcoin ETFs to eligible clients last year.

The debut of Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin ETF marked a major milestone on Wednesday for the investment bank with $9.3 trillion in client assets, but the financial powerhouse is already weighing what could be next when it comes to crypto.

The firm filed applications in January for exchange-traded funds tracking Ethereum and Solana, but it’s doubtful that the company will stop there, Amy Oldenburg, head of digital-asset strategy at Morgan Stanley, told Decrypt in an interview this week.

“We’re not going to stop at just Bitcoin,” she said in reference to Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin ETF, which has generated approximately $46 million in net inflows since debuting Wednesday, according to Farside Investors. “It’s really about the longer-term journey, and there’s quite a long way to go.”

Last year, Morgan Stanley became the first major wirehouse to allow its army of more than 15,000 wealth advisors to pitch third-party spot Bitcoin ETFs to eligible clients, green-lighting products offered by asset managers Fidelity and BlackRock. And Morgan Stanley’s next moves could resemble steps those competitors have taken, Oldenburg said.

The March CPI print came in. However, market reaction shows that markets already priced in the move.

For context, the Consumer Price Index released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed inflation rising to 3.3%, slightly below the 3.4% forecast.

Meanwhile, core CPI also eased in at 2.6%, just under the expected 2.7%. Still, despite the “softer-than-expected” readings, inflation is now at its highest level since May 2024.

Naturally, the market quickly repriced expectations, pushing rate cuts for 2026 further out.

And yet, Bitcoin [BTC], which closed the day up 1.63%, is making another attempt at breaking the stubborn $75k resistance, suggesting risk appetite is still holding up despite the geopolitical pressure.
From a macro perspective, the inflation move wasn’t a surprise either. 

March kicked off with escalating tensions in West Asia, which quickly triggered an oil supply shock. Oil prices surged above $112 per barrel, feeding directly into energy-driven inflation pressures and lifting CPI expectations well ahead of the actual release.

In this context, the “softer-than-expected” CPI readings mainly reflect markets already pricing in the energy-driven inflation move rather than reacting to new information.

From a technical standpoint, Bitcoin’s resilience therefore reinforces the same message. Price action hasn’t shown any real post-CPI shock.

That raises the question: does the market still underprice macro risk, or does Bitcoin’s steady bid reflect an emerging “safe-haven” narrative in real time?
