XRP Network Sets New Record: 10,000+ Token Wallets At Highest Ever

Data shows XRP has reached a new milestone in its 10,000+ token wallets, a sign that large investors have been coming into the network.

More Than 332,000 Wallets Now Hold 10,000+ XRP
In a new post on X, on-chain analytics firm Santiment has talked about the latest trend in the population of the mid-to-large holders of XRP. The indicator of relevance here is the “Supply Distribution,” which tells us, among other things, the number of wallets that belong to a given group.

Addresses are divided into these cohorts based on the number of tokens that they are carrying in their balance. The 1 to 10 coins group, for example, includes all holders who own between 1 and 10 BTC. In the context of the current topic, the range of interest is the 10,000+ coins one (with there being no upper bound).

At the current exchange rate, the cutoff for this range converts to around $14,300. While this isn’t terribly high, it does act as a filter against the small entities. As such, the range can showcase the combined behavior of the mid-sized and large investor cohorts.

Now, here is the chart shared by Santiment that shows how the Supply Distribution for the 10,000+ coins group has changed on the XRP network over the last few months:
As displayed in the above graph, the total number of XRP wallets holding more than 10,000 tokens observed a plunge alongside the price crash from January-end/February-start. This means that some of the prominent investors of the cryptocurrency cleared out their balance amid the market panic.


While the decline was sharp, it lasted only briefly, and before long, the indicator was back to following a similar trajectory as before the crash: a gradual uptrend. The new uptrend maintained throughout March and April, and so far, it has also sustained in May.

The cryptocurrency market has flipped bearish as long traders recorded massive losses over the past 24 hours.

Bitcoin has dropped below $80,000 once again, while Ethereum failed to defend the $2,300 resistance level.

$HYPE, the native coin of the Hyperliquid DEX, is down by 3.6%, making it the second-worst performer among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

It is currently trading at $38 after closing below the rising trendline earlier this week. Mixed signals from the derivatives markets put a lid on $HYPE’s recovery.

Despite recording a $238.8 million net loss, Nakamoto CEO David Bailey said Wednesday that Q1 “marked a transformational period” for the company as it closed the acquisitions of Bitcoin-focused news outlet $BTC Inc. and Bitcoin-focused investment platform UTXO Management.

More than $1.1 million of Nakamoto’s revenue came from its new Bitcoin treasury and derivatives strategy, $800,000 from its media business, $500,000 from healthcare operations and $200,000 from asset management services.

Nakamoto attributed the bulk of its Q1 net loss to a $107.7 million non-cash reduction linked to a pre-acquisition option and a $102.5 million mark-to-market loss on its 5,058 Bitcoin ($BTC) treasury as the cryptocurrency fell 23% during the quarter.

The Bitcoin treasury industry has faced pressure over the past year, with Bitcoin down 37% from its all-time high, causing some analysts to cast doubt on the sustainability of buy-and-hold strategies.

Most Bitcoin treasuries outside of Strategy and Metaplanet have slowed Bitcoin buying over the last 12 months, while others have eaten into their Bitcoin treasury to pay off debt.
Nakamoto has been one of the hardest-hit Bitcoin treasuries during this downturn, with company shares down over 99.2% from its all-time high.

The company didn't buy any Bitcoin during the quarter, but sold 284 Bitcoin on March 31 to cover operational expenses.

The Clarity Act, one of the most important legislative bills regarding cryptocurrency regulation in the US, is nearing its conclusion.

At this point, bipartisan negotiations on the Clarity Act, also known as the Transparency Act, have failed. However, it seems likely that Republicans will be able to push the bill forward on their own.

Crypto in America host Eleanor Terrett stated in a post from her X account that the Senate Banking Committee’s bipartisan negotiations on the CLARITY Act ended without an agreement.

Accordingly, negotiations among minority senators to secure Democratic support ended without a final agreement.

Terrett wrote that the main topics discussed in these meetings were the conflict of interest related to cryptocurrency involving President Donald Trump and his family, and provisions related to the Blockchain Regulatory Transparency Act (BRCA).

Democratic lawmakers, including Senators Adam Schiff and Ruben Gallego, reportedly demanded that provisions be added to prevent conflicts of interest regarding the President’s family’s virtual assets as a condition for supporting the bill.

Democrats are also filing last-minute objections to the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA), which expands liability exemptions for unsupervised software developers.

Terrett stated that while significant progress had been made on ethical issues, disagreements over BRCA were preventing a final agreement on CLARITY.
