As doubts emerged regarding the participation of the Iranian delegation, market sentiment quickly pivoted to "risk-off," causing Bitcoin to capitulate to an intraday low of $75,085. This turbulence resulted in the liquidation of over 6,700 traders, wiping out approximately $97 million in leveraged positions.
Market Prediction
Despite the immediate bearish pressure, technical indicators suggest a tug-of-war for control. Analysts identify $76,000 as the critical psychological resistance level. DeFi Losses Pass $600M in Three Weeks With Kelp DAO Bridge Exploit

The decentralized finance sector has absorbed more than $600 million in losses over the past three weeks, driven by a string of platform exploits. The most recent and largest came Saturday, when an attacker drained $292 million from Kelp DAO's cross-chain bridge, sending sector-wide metrics to their lowest point in a year.

Total value locked across DeFi fell to approximately $82.4 billion, down 25% from the $110 billion recorded at the start of 2026. The day following the Kelp DAO exploit, DeFi posted a single-session drawdown of about 5.6%. That places the move near the 98th percentile of severity since 2024.

Lending markets bore the steepest losses, with TVL falling around 13%. Liquid staking declined roughly 3.4%, while decentralized exchanges and derivatives protocols each dropped between 2% and 3%. Crypto security firm Halborn separately estimated that $86 million was lost to DeFi attacks in January, $23.5 million in February, and over $27 million in March.

The $292 million Kelp DAO incident followed a roughly $285 million exploit of Drift Protocol earlier this month, which stands as the largest Solana-based hack on record. Smaller breaches at Resolv Labs, Hyperbridge, and Rhea Finance added to the cumulative total.

The Kelp DAO attacker manipulated a cross-chain message to drain rsETH from a bridge powered by LayerZero. The stolen assets were then deposited as collateral on Aave, pulling the lending protocol into the fallout. Preliminary findings from security researchers have linked the attack to the North Korean hacking group Lazarus.

Aave froze rsETH on its platform to contain further exposure.

A consortium of 12 European banks operating under the Qivalis venture has selected Fireblocks to build the infrastructure for a MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin, with a launch targeted in the second half of 2026, pending approval from Dutch regulators.

Qivalis, incorporated in Amsterdam and backed by major institutions including BBVA, BNP Paribas, ING, and UniCredit, plans to issue a fully regulated, 1:1-backed euro token structured as an electronic money institution under Dutch supervision. De Nederlandsche Bank, the Netherlands' central bank, would grant the required approval under the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation framework.

Fireblocks will supply tokenization technology, wallet infrastructure, and custody services, along with compliance tools covering identity verification and sanctions screening. A Fireblocks spokesperson described the project as a "regulated euro-native settlement instrument" built for European institutions rather than relying on dollar-based alternatives.

The stablecoin is designed primarily for institutional use, including settlement, treasury operations, and tokenized asset transactions. Qivalis was established in late 2025 as a joint venture to pool governance across European banks under a single structure for euro stablecoin issuance.

Dollar-denominated stablecoins currently account for roughly 99% of the approximately $320 billion global stablecoin market, according to DeFiLlama data, with euro-pegged tokens representing a marginal share. European banks and policymakers have been accelerating efforts to reduce that imbalance in digital payments and settlement infrastructure.
