Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast introduced a sweeping economic reform package this week, outlining 40 measures aimed at reinvigorating the country's economy and stabilizing employment. Addressing the nation for the first time since assuming office last month, Kast emphasized that the reforms are a practical response to pressing economic challenges rather than a politically driven agenda.The reform package is built around five core objectives: enhancing tax competitiveness, reinforcing formal employment, cutting through regulatory red tape, strengthening legal certainty for investors, and maintaining disciplined public spending. At the heart of the proposal is a gradual reduction in the corporate tax rate from 27% to 23% over four years — a move Kast's administration believes will position Chile as a more attractive destination for business and investment.Among the standout measures is a new tax credit linked to wage payments, designed to incentivize smaller businesses to bring workers into the formal economy. Kast stated the initiative would inject approximately $1.4 billion annually into the productive sector, benefiting around 235,000 small and medium-sized enterprises and protecting over four million workers. Additional reforms include faster processing of environmental permits for major projects like mining operations, a temporary VAT exemption on new home sales, roughly $450 million earmarked for regions affected by recent wildfires, and a property tax exemption for homeowners aged 65 and older on their primary residences.Kast has set an ambitious target of lifting Chile's annual economic growth from 2.5% to around 4%, though many analysts remain doubtful about the feasibility of that goal. CFTC probes oil futures trades tied to Trump's moves in Iran: Report



The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is reportedly investigating suspicious oil trades that were placed ahead of certain announcements made by the Trump administration relating to the Iran war.

According to a Bloomberg report on Wednesday, the CFTC’s probe focuses on trading activity on CME Group’s NYMEX and the Intercontinental Exchange’s futures platforms.

The regulator is also requesting “Tag 50” identity data from exchanges to assist with the investigation. Tag 50 data is widely used for auditing and regulatory compliance checks.

The investigation into the futures trading platforms comes in parallel with the rising scrutiny of insider trading in prediction markets.

Bloomberg said the CFTC is reviewing at least two instances over a two-week period in which oil trading volumes surged shortly before the Trump administration made announcements related to the Iran war.

The first of those occurred on March 23, when billions of dollars in futures traded about 15 minutes before US President Donald Trump postponed plans to strike Iranian energy infrastructure.

The second instance occurred around two weeks later, on April 7, when Trump announced a two-week ceasefire on Iran, Bloomberg said.

The trading spikes contributed to falling oil prices and rising equity prices.

“There’s enormous appetite to pursue cases like this,” said Brian Young, a partner at law firm Jones Day who previously served as director of the CFTC’s enforcement division.

→ Regulation must evolve alongside innovation
Frameworks like Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation will play a crucial role in ensuring safe growth, especially for stablecoins and tokenized assets.
The report also highlights emerging trends:
• Tokenized bonds are showing early promise, with potential for lower borrowing costs and tighter spreads—but results are still preliminary.
• Euro stablecoins and tokenized money market funds (MMFs) could either strengthen liquidity during market stress or introduce new contagion channels, depending on how they are structured and regulated.
The ECB’s message is clear:
Tokenization isn’t the risk—uncontrolled tokenization is.
As finance moves on-chain, the real challenge will be balancing innovation with resilience. Europe wants to lead this shift—but on its own terms.

Bitcoin rally stalls below $76,000 as institutional demand fades

Bitcoin price traded sideways today as short-term traders booked profits following yesterday’s impressive run-up above $75,500.

The total crypto market cap receded below the $2.6 trillion mark, but the crypto fear and greed index remained unchanged from the previous day at 53, which marks a neutral level.

This means investors are cooling their expectations rather than flipping bearish.

Except for a few small-cap altcoins, most of the leading digital assets experienced a slow day as market participants awaited a clearer signal for the next leg up.

Why is Bitcoin price falling today?

Bitcoin price fell to an intraday low of $73,617 today as short-term traders started booking profits near the recent local highs and high-leveraged long positions were forced to unwind rapidly as the price climbed above $75,000.

Over $152 million in long positions were liquidated in the past 24 hours, with Bitcoin accounting for over $50 million of the total wipeout.

This cascade of liquidations created immediate downward pressure as the market corrected from overbought conditions.

With the absence of any fresh macro catalysts to extend the rally, investors had little incentive to aggressively push the price higher.

As Bitcoin failed to breach the psychological and technical resistance level of $76,000, where it briefly swept liquidity, it became evident that there wasn't enough sustained buying pressure to hold that level.

This failure to maintain momentum forced the asset back into its previous consolidation range.

While large-scale whale wallets reportedly added over 27,000 $BTC during this dip, roughly $291 million in outflows from spot Bitcoin ETFs acted as a significant headwind.

The immediate institutional outflow created enough short-term friction to stall the bullish trend.
