Switzerland’s Crypto Valley captured 47% of European blockchain venture funding in 2025, raising $728 million across 31 deals, according to an annual report released Wednesday by venture firm CV VC.

Globally, blockchain venture funding rose 30% to $15.5 billion across 986 deals last year, while Crypto Valley’s total climbed 37% from $531 million in 2024, the report said.

Institutional demand for $XRP is slowly creeping back in recent days. Inflows into Spot $XRP ETFs in the US are picking up pace, even with price action still subdued under $1.4.

Notably, the latest ETF data shows that a measurable portion of the token’s circulating supply is already being absorbed by these investment vehicles.

ETFs Now Hold A Measurable Slice Of $XRP Supply

March was a particularly difficult period for Spot $XRP ETFs, with SoSoValue data showing $31.16 million in net outflows for the month. Total $XRP assets under management dropped from a January peak of $1.65 billion to below $1 billion due to a combination of $XRP’s price falling over 40% and actual investor redemptions.

However, Spot $XRP ETFs have now returned to measurable inflows. According to data from SoSoValue, US-listed spot $XRP ETFs attracted $9.1 million in net inflows on April 10. This is their strongest single-day intake since February 6, when $15.2 million flowed into the products, and is a sign of new capital entering the $XRP ecosystem through institutional investors after months of suspension.

Since launch, Spot $XRP ETFs have received a cummulative $1.22 billion in net inflows. Therefore, the scale of $XRP accumulation in these ETFs is no longer negligible. Data shows that as of April 14, seven spot $XRP ETFs are trading in the United States, with the products collectively holding 771.7 million $XRP tokens and a combined AUM of about $959.40 million. The funds now represent approximately 1.16% of $XRP’s market capitalization.

Persistent negative funding alongside growing open interest and rising bitcoin prices is increasing the likelihood of a short squeeze, according to K33.

The bitcoin 30-day average funding rate has been negative for 46 consecutive days, matching the duration of the 2022 bear market bottom, Head of Research Vetle Lunde noted.

While defensive positioning has become a recurring theme in the bitcoin 

market, continued negative funding paired with growing open interest and rising prices point to elevated aggression from bears, according to research and brokerage firm K33, increasing the likelihood of a short squeeze ahead.

A crypto scam posing as the official Ledger Live hardware wallet app passed Apple’s App Store review process and drained at least $9.5 million from more than 50 victims across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, and XRP between April 7 and April 13, with stolen funds routed through more than 150 KuCoin deposit addresses and into a centralized mixing service. Summary The three largest individual thefts were $3.23 million in USDT on April 9, $2.08 million in USDC on April 11, and $1.95 million in BTC, ETH, and stETH on April 8, with blockchain investigator ZachXBT tracing all stolen funds to deposit addresses linked to a mixing service called AudiA6, known for charging high fees to obscure illicit transactions. The attack worked by prompting users to enter their 24-word seed phrase into the fake app during what appeared to be a normal wallet setup flow; once a seed phrase is entered into any connected application, attackers gain full and immediate control of every wallet derived from it. Apple has removed the fake app from the App Store but has not publicly commented on how it passed the review process; ZachXBT separately reported that Apple appears to be blocking a security analysis tool from examining the fraudulent listing, which has complicated independent investigation. A report on the theft brought the incident to wide attention after ZachXBT published his on-chain analysis. One of the victims, posting on X under the handle @glove, was Philadelphia musician Garrett Dutton of G. Ethereum briefly approached the $2,400 mark before pulling back, setting off sharply contrasting moves among large investors.

At the local peak, Billy Luedtke, CEO of Intuition, moved to lock in gains. He sold 3,285 ETH at $2,372.24, securing roughly $7.79 million, according to Arkham Intelligence.

Meanwhile, this sale was part of a broader exit strategy that began on March 8, during which he offloaded 8,771 ETH worth $19.14 million at an average price of $2,182.

At the same time, another large wallet (0x455…A433E) pivoted away from Ethereum, rotating capital into Bitcoin. The holder swapped 2,831 WETH for 90.46 WBTC in a transaction valued at $6.74 million.


This exchange was based on a conversion rate of $74,607 per Bitcoin. Consequently, the move signals a shift in near-term preference toward Bitcoin.

In contrast, whale investor nemorino.eth leaned further into Ethereum. The wallet accumulated 1,347.37 ETH at an average price of $2,226.54, committing approximately $3 million. Notably, this purchase reflects a bullish stance on Ethereum’s potential upside despite recent volatility.
