Will Cardano price rebound from an all-time low ahead of Leios testnet?

Cardano price has slumped to a record low this year despite the recent Midnight mainnet launch. $ADA trades at $0.25 today, April 10, up slightly from the all-time low of $0.2168. So, will the token rebound ahead of the upcoming Leios upgrade launch in June?

Cardano to Launch Leios Upgrade in June

$ADA price will be in the spotlight in the coming months as Charles Hoskinson and the team prepare to launch the biggest update on the network since its inception.

The Leios upgrade will launch the testnet in June this year, with the mainnet set to happen later this year. Once activated, the network will lead to faster speeds by introducing parallel processing, which will have ranking blocks, endorsement blocks, and committees of validation. The developers hope that the network will be able to handle thousands of transactions per second.

The upgrade comes after the developers launched Midnight, its privacy sidechain. Midnight has already inked major partnerships, including with Momentum Bank, which will tokenize assets worth millions of dollars to the network. It has also made partnerships with companies like Sundae Labs, Fluid Tokens, Houdini Swap, and SecondSwap.

Cardano has made other major milestones in the past few months, as part of the Pentad proposal, which aims to grow its network by introducing new oracles, stablecoins, and analytics tools.

It onboarded Pyth Network as an oracle in its chain in December. Most recently, it added Dune Analytics and USDCx to its network. Another major development is that Cardano reached 120 million transactions while VolatilityShares launched the first Cardano futures ETFs.

Still, despite this, Cardano's network has struggled to grow since its launch a decade ago. Data compiled by DeFi Llama shows that Cardano has just $137 million in total value locked (TVL), much lower than other popular chains like Solana and BSC Chain.

US government transfers seized BTC to Coinbase as $22B Bitcoin stockpile expands

The US government has decided to transfer Bitcoin funds to a Coinbase Prime address following the seizure of funds from Glenn Olivio. This move has consequently increased the government’s total holding to around 328,000 $BTC, which is worth more than $22 billion, according to data from Arkham Intelligence.

Regarding this report, sources familiar with the situation disclosed that the US government moved approximately 2.438 $BTC, valued at $177,000, confiscated from Olivio, in two separate transfers sent to a similar Coinbase account starting with 3EMqu.

Similar movements have been recorded in past cases, including funds associated with Ross Ulbricht, the creator of Silk Road.

The US expresses a strong commitment to boost its Bitcoin stockpile

Last month, the US government successfully made its first on-chain transaction in 2026, transferring approximately 0.33 $BTC, valued at around $23,000, linked to a wallet titled “Miguel Villanueva Seized Funds.”

Following the three separate transfers, reliable sources noted that the first transaction consisted of about 0.05678428 $BTC, the Second around 0.24020319 $BTC, and the third approximately 0.03782683 $BTC, bringing the total to 0.3348143 $BTC, valued at around $22,876.55 at today’s price.

Nonetheless, reports highlighted that publicly available government statements and court documents failed to disclose further information about Villanueva or the main reason for the seizure.

Institutions Are Playing Both Sides of the Bitcoin Trade

According to CoinDesk, institutions are buying call options targeting $80,000 while simultaneously purchasing puts for downside protection. That dual positioning reflects hesitation rather than conviction, with neither bulls nor bears willing to fully commit ahead of this weekend’s geopolitical and economic catalysts.

Trump said he was “in deep negotiations” with Tehran heading into the Islamabad talks, and the gap between a deal and a breakdown has left institutional traders unwilling to pick a side. Bitcoin has traded in a range of roughly $65,000 to $73,000 since the Iran war began.

CPI and Iran Talks Are the Two Key Catalysts

Friday’s US inflation report came in softer than expected on core measures, with core CPI rising just 0.2% against a 0.3% forecast. The print eased some short-term rate fears but did not provide enough clarity to break Bitcoin out of its established range.

The more consequential event may be the Islamabad talks. As crypto.news reported, a fragile two-week ceasefire was agreed last Wednesday, but investor caution has persisted as the Strait of Hormuz remains only partially reopened and Iran has proposed a $1 per barrel crypto toll on tanker passage.

Durov added that the 10x faster speed was the first of the seven steps of blockchain's overhaul plan, dubbed the Make TON Great Again (MTONGA) framework. The second step will cut the transaction cost by 6x.

Will the upgrades improve TON activity? According to ChainSpect, TON now ranks 14th among the fastest blockchain networks. On the sub-second block times, it only rivals Solana and BNB Chain.

Worth pointing out, BNB Chain also made updates to scale its speed and lower the costs of transactions. The end goal is to attract users seeking faster and cheaper transfers that can also empower other DeFi applications.
