Tom Lee Tips End To ‘Mini Crypto Winter’ As BitMine Doubles Down With $140M ETH Buy
BitMine Immersion Technologies chairman Tom Lee has signaled that the “mini crypto winter” affecting Ether may be nearing its end, as the firm added another $140 million worth of ETH last week — moving closer to its target of acquiring 5% of the token’s total supply.

BitMine Adds 65,341 ETH to Its Crypto Treasury

BitMine scooped up 65,341 ETH since its last update on March 16, bringing its total holdings to over 4.66 million tokens—$10.17 billion worth. While the company did not reveal the average purchase price, the newly added ETH is currently valued at roughly $140 million. The company’s ETH holdings now represent roughly 3.86% of Ethereum’s circulating supply, currently estimated at 120.7 million ETH.

Tom Lee said on Monday that BitMine Immersion Technologies has ramped up its buying pace over the past three weeks, anticipating an end to the prolonged Ether slump under its “base case” scenario.

“Our base case is ETH is in the final stages of the ‘mini-crypto winter,’ he opined in a statement.

The crypto market experienced a sharp downturn in October last year, with Bitcoin dropping from its all-time high above $126,000 and Ether falling from its August peak of $4,946. Market pundits continue to debate when a significant market recovery might occur.

Lee highlighted several positive factors—such as the progress of the CLARITY Act in Congress and crypto’s resilience amid recent tensions in Iran—as signs that the crypto winter may be easing.

“As many have noticed, crypto and particularly ETH have outperformed the broader market since the Iran war commenced, with ETH rising 18% and outperforming equities by 2,450 basis points,” Lee posited. “This is a marked contrast to Gold, a traditional store of value, which has fallen more than 15%.

Strategy Unleashes Massive $44 Billion Plan To Snatch Up Even More Bitcoin As Total Stash Hits 762K BTC


Software firm-turned-Bitcoin treasury company Strategy is adding more ways to boost its Bitcoin buying power. The firm on Monday unveiled plans to raise an eye-popping $44 billion through a mix of common and preferred stock, aiming to fund future Bitcoin buys.

Meanwhile, Strategy has acquired more Bitcoin in a much smaller purchase than its previous two weekly buys as the Michael Saylor-led firm continues to lean into the market downturn.

Strategy Announces $44 Billion BTC Buying Plans

On Monday, Strategy rolled out a $44 billion at-the-market (ATM) equity program, evenly split between $21 billion in Class A common stock and $21 billion in its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC), according to a Form 8-K filing.

That’s on top of a new $2.1 billion ATM program for its STRK preferred stock, replacing the previous STRK program, which still had over $20 billion available.

The new programs will enable Strategy to steadily sell shares in the market rather than raising funds in a single transaction. Proceeds from past programs have financed many of the company’s aggressive Bitcoin purchases since early last year, leveraging a growing range of issuance vehicles, including ATM facilities linked to preferred stock products such as STRF and STRD.

Eyecare biotech jumps 19% after stablecoin-focused rebrand
Shares in NovaBay Pharmaceuticals jumped nearly 19% after the company announced it would change its name to Stablecoin Development Corporation as part of its strategic crypto pivot.

NovaBay Pharmaceuticals CEO Michael Kazley said in a statement on Monday that the company’s plan going forward is to access cash flows within the growing stablecoin economy.

“The name change to Stablecoin Development Corporation reflects our conviction that stablecoins represent the most compelling structural opportunity in digital finance,” he said.

It adds to a wave of companies over the last year that have pivoted to a crypto strategy to improve their fortunes. However, with crypto markets down since October, there are warnings of potential consolidation ahead.

The company’s stock ticker will change from NBY to SDEV, effective April 3. It has also disclosed that it holds two billion Sky ($SKY) tokens as of March 16, representing more than 8% of the total supply.

NovaBay Pharmaceuticals began life in 2000 as a California-based biopharmaceutical company focused on eye care products.

The company disclosed in a January SEC filing that it was changing tactics to operate under an “on-chain holding company framework focused on long-duration participation in protocol-level digital asset ecosystems.”

As part of the pivot, NovaBay Pharmaceuticals entered into a $134 million private placement backed by Tether Investments, an affiliate of the stablecoin issuer, to buy and hold assets within the $SKY protocol ecosystem.
