Amazon is reportedly planning a massive $50 billion investment into OpenAI, with $15 billion upfront and another $35 billion tied to major milestones like achieving AGI or going public. This isn’t just funding—it’s a direct challenge to Microsoft’s long-standing position in the AI space.
For years, Microsoft has been OpenAI’s closest partner. Back in 2019, it invested $1 billion and became the exclusive cloud provider through Azure. That deal gave Microsoft a major edge in the AI race.
