Crypto market participants often track large Bitcoin holders to spot signs of accumulation or offloading, as these moves can signal whether whales believe the asset has peaked or is poised for an uptrend.

It isn’t just large Bitcoin holders that are showing signs of caution. CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju posted to X on Wednesday that “every Bitcoin analyst is now bearish.”

The Crypto Fear & Greed Index, which measures overall crypto market sentiment, dropped to a score of 9 out of 100 on Friday, its lowest score since mid-2022, when the market was reeling from the collapse of the Terra blockchain.

While there has been a sell-off among large holders, retail investors have been aggressively accumulating. Santiment said, “This combination of key stakeholders selling and retail buying is what historically creates bear cycles.”

“Shrimp wallets,” which Santiment defines as those holding less than 0.1 Bitcoin, have risen to a 20-month high since June 2024, when Bitcoin was trading at around $66,000, before falling to $53,000 just two months later in August.

However, by December 2024, it had reached $100,000 for the first time amid a booming market after Donald Trump won the US presidential election.

The cohort now accounts for 0.249% of Bitcoin’s total supply, which is equivalent to roughly 52,290 Bitcoin.

XRP has confirmed a major technical breakdown on its daily chart, confirming a warning from a top chart analyst.

This confirmation comes after XRP's price fell to near $1.70 on Friday and has yet to recover from that level.

Key Points

XRP confirmed a significant intraday decline after breaking below the $1.80-$1.90 support zone.

This move indicates structural weakness, and the price could still fall to $0.50.

CasiTrades' next target price is $1.65, viewing this decline as part of a broader corrective wave.

XRP must reclaim its previous support level or face further downside risk before any meaningful rebound.

XRP Breaks Key Daily Support Level

In his updated statement, analyst Great Mattis simply called XRP's latest move a "major breach." This marks the loss of a support zone that had long held its price action.

 According to a TradingView chart shared by Martis, XRP's price decisively broke below the key support level of the $1.80 to $1.90 range. This area had previously acted as a bottom during several consolidation phases.

Meanwhile, XRP fell to a low of around $1.71 on Friday, its lowest price since 2026, after opening above $1.80 at the beginning of the year. As of press time, the token is trading near $1.73, with little sign of a short-term rebound.

This breach suggests that what many traders perceived as market consolidation has turned into structural weakness.

Downside Risks

This price level has been tested multiple times since 2025 without a decisive break, making it a crucial reference point for both bulls and bears. In technical analysis, repeated testing of support levels often weakens their strength, and once a support level is breached, downward momentum typically accelerates.

Fundstrat’s Lee sees a crypto comeback once precious metals cool

Fundstrat managing partner Tom Lee predicts that crypto markets will likely catch up once gold and silver begin to take a break from their recent rallies.

Tom Lee said on CNBC’s Power Lunch on Monday that crypto should be going up on a weaker dollar and an easing Federal Reserve.

However, it doesn’t have the leverage tailwind because the industry delevered, “and as long as gold and silver are rising, then there’s a FOMO into buying that instead of crypto,” he said.

“Because when gold and silver take a break, then and in the past, that would lead to a Bitcoin and Ethereum surge afterwards.”

Gold prices hit an all-time high of $5,100 on Monday, following a gain of 17.5% since the beginning of the year. Silver also skyrocketed, hitting a peak price of $110 at the same time after gaining 57% so far this year.

Market observers have attributed the surge in precious metals to rising geopolitical tensions, trade tariff threats, and US dollar weakness, driving investors to safe-haven assets.
October crash still hurting markets

Earlier in the interview, Lee explained that markets were still feeling the ripple effects of the Oct. 10 deleveraging event, which “crippled many key players in the industry,” including exchanges and market makers. As a result, he said, the industry is “limping along, but the fundamentals have improved a lot.”

Bitcoin (BTC) has lost 30% of its value since its October peak and is struggling to find any momentum above $95,000, having tanked back to support at $86,000 on Monday.

“I think the precious metal move has sucked a lot of the oxygen out of the room,” said Lee.

“So, I think crypto prices aren’t quite keeping up with fundamentals, but as you know, when fundamentals go up and to the right, prices eventually follow.”

In a January 30 post on the X platform, Alphractal’s founder and CEO, Joao Wedson, revealed that the Bitcoin Sharpe Ratio is declining at a rate faster than the BTC price. The relevant indicator here is the Sharpe Ratio, which assesses the risk-adjusted returns of a particular cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, in this case).

This on-chain metric basically tracks the amount of profit an investment offers per unit of risk (considering risk is measured by volatility), with a high value signaling a higher risk-adjusted performance. Meanwhile, a negative Sharpe Ratio indicates that the returns being realized on an investment are not commensurate with the risk being taken.
