Bitcoin Price Prediction: Is Explosive Rally Coming?

BTC is sitting at $73,500 pressing right up against the upper trendline of a rising wedge. And this is the exact level that rejected price every single time it got here over the past 6 weeks.

That history is why the market is so split right now. A lot of traders are looking at this pump and doing exactly what worked the last 3 or 4 times. They are shorting the rejection, expecting the same outcome, expecting price to bleed back toward $64,000 or lower.

But that is actually what makes this moment more dangerous for the bears than it looks. When everyone is positioned the same way and price does not roll over, the unwind gets violent.

The short squeeze setup that was building last week with negative funding rates has not gone away. Actually, it has just gotten more loaded with every failed breakdown attempt.

A clean break and hold above this upper channel trendline and $75,000 would be the trigger that forces those shorts to close in a hurry, and closing a short means buying, which pushes price higher, which forces more shorts to close.

If that rally continues, $80,000 is the first real target, then $84,000, and the full $90,000 level as the target.

$64,000 and $60,000 are both clearly marked as the floors if this rejection plays out like the previous ones.

Experts remain cautious in the short-term despite Bitcoin’s $74K retest amid escalating geopolitical tensions.

Bitcoin surged higher over the weekend as the conflict in the Middle East entered its third week, with the cryptocurrency's bullish momentum carrying over into Monday.

The leading crypto hit $74,157 in the early Asian trading session Monday morning, according to data from price aggregator CoinGecko. At time of publication, Bitcoin is trading at around $73,978, up 3.1% on the day and 9.1% on the week.

Bitcoin's rise comes in spite of escalating geopolitical tensions due to the U.S.-Iran war, which has sparked turmoil across markets.

It would be “very bad for the future of NATO,” if allies do not help secure the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times, following a Sunday post on TruthSocial calling on countries that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait to “take care of that passage,” and adding that the U.S. would help “A LOT!”

Due to the uncertainty, crude oil has been on a slow yet steady ascent and is trading at $99.25 per barrel, up nearly 28% from the March 9 low, but still well below last week’s $119.48 high.

Gold, a safe-haven asset that typically surges amid geopolitical uncertainty, is down roughly 7% since the conflict began on February 28. Bitcoin, which behaved as a risk-on asset for most of the last five months, has notched 11% in gains, widening the gap between the two.

Bitcoin’s ascent is not due to the war itself, but rather to its macroeconomic consequences, Tim Sun, a senior researcher at crypto operator HashKey Group, told Decrypt. “The combination of high oil prices, weak growth, and deficit expansion means that future U.S. fiscal pressure will only increase, eventually funneling back into liquidity issues.”

Metaplanet, the Tokyo-listed investment firm pursuing a Bitcoin-focused treasury strategy, has raised approximately $255 million from global institutional investors as it advances its long-term Bitcoin accumulation goal.

According to CEO Simon Gerovich, the company may receive up to $276 million more if certain warrants are exercised, giving total potential funding of around $531 million to support its plan to accumulate 210,000 $BTC.

Metaplanet currently holds 35,102 $BTC, valued at approximately $2.6 billion at current market prices. This positions the company as the third-largest Bitcoin treasury globally, trailing only Strategy and MARA Holdings, which together hold 792,553 $BTC.

Strategy, the largest crypto treasury firm, is expected to announce a new Bitcoin acquisition today, following hints from Executive Chairman Michael Saylor and last week’s preferred share sale that raised additional funds.

Metaplanet targets holdings of 100,000 $BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 $BTC by the end of 2027.

As part of its expansion plans, the firm intends to establish a US subsidiary, Metaplanet Asset Management, to support venture investments and develop digital asset financial services linked to Bitcoin capital markets.

Solana finally broke out of the consolidation range after successfully flipping $90 into support. The altcoin jumped to a monthly high of $94.2 before a slight retracement.

As of this writing, Solana [SOL] traded at $94.13, up 6.38% on the daily charts. In doing so, Solana flipped its EMA20 and was testing EMA50 at $94 at the same time.

Over the same window, volume climbed 102% to $4.37 billion, indicating increased market participation. These moves indicated strengthening upward momentum, as bulls gained ground.

Solana’s leverage is rising as risk appetite returns

Solana has recently seen significant demand across all market participants, with many perceiving prevailing conditions as perfect entry points.

This sentiment is extremely prevalent on the derivatives market, as traders have shown increased risk appetite.
