Japan could experience another wave of widespread price increases this summer as companies respond to surging energy costs linked to tensions in the Middle East, according to a Bank of Japan (BOJ) report released Friday. Businesses across multiple sectors, including food manufacturers, restaurants, and hot spring resorts, are considering or already planning price hikes to offset rising operational expenses.The BOJ’s regional survey, conducted between January and April, showed that many Japanese firms are becoming more willing to pass higher raw material, labor, and fuel costs on to consumers. This marks a continued shift away from Japan’s long-standing culture of maintaining low prices, particularly in the service sector.The report noted that escalating energy prices tied to the Middle East conflict are pushing companies to revise their fiscal year business plans, which began in April. Some businesses have already decided to implement faster and broader price increases, while others are expected to finalize decisions during the summer months.Japan’s inflation pressure has intensified in recent months. Annual wholesale inflation climbed to 4.9% in April, the highest level in three years, driven largely by higher petroleum and chemical product costs. The BOJ said firms are now reacting more quickly to rising expenses compared to 2022, when the Ukraine war triggered major increases in global commodity prices.According to the central bank, many companies no longer need lengthy internal discussions before raising prices because consumers and clients have become more accustomed to inflation after repeated rounds of price adjustments in recent years.The growing momentum behind price increases may strengthen expectations that the Bank of Japan could consider another interest rate hike in the near future as inflationary pressures continue buildin

The two-year yield, which is particularly sensitive to expectations around Fed policy, rose to 4.05% during Friday's Asian trading hours, the level last seen in June 2025. It has climbed 13 basis points this week alone and more than 65 basis points since March.

The benchmark 10-year yield jumped to 4.5%, also the highest since May last year.



This week’s hotter-than-expected U.S. CPI and PPI reports for April have raised concerns that inflation could remain stubbornly high as rising energy prices and escalating geopolitical tensions linked to the Iran conflict continue to ripple through the global economy.

As inflation fears build, markets are rapidly reassessing the outlook for U.S. monetary policy. With the Fed funds rate currently in the 3.50%–3.75% range, the move in the two-year yield suggests investors are beginning to price in at least one additional 25-basis-point hike.

According to CME’s FedWatch tool, investors are now pricing in more than a 44% probability of a rate hike in December, compared with just 22.5% a week ago. At the start of the year, traders had expected at least two rate cuts before the end of 2026.

Decentralized Shift in AI Access

Antseed, on May 15, launched a decentralized marketplace that connects artificial intelligence (AI) consumers directly with model providers, removing the centralized intermediaries that dominate today’s AI access ecosystem.

The platform offers an alternative to AI aggregators such as Openrouter, which list models, route all traffic through their own servers, and hold provider earnings until payout. AntSeed instead allows buyers to discover providers directly, send requests peer‑to‑peer, and settle payments instantly in $USDC to a provider’s wallet.

According to a media statement, the network requires no accounts, no API keys, and has no approval process or central point of control.

“OpenRouter and similar aggregators helped define the market for unified AI access, but that market does not need to remain centralized,” said Shahaf Antwarg, Antseed’s co‑founder. “AntSeed gives AI consumers and providers a direct, peer‑to‑peer alternative where access, reputation, and payments are coordinated by the network rather than a single platform.”

Discovery on Antseed uses the same peer‑to‑peer protocol that powers Bittorrent, eliminating reliance on a central server. All transactions are recorded on‑chain, making track records public, portable, and tamper‑resistant.

DMND and RootstockLabs Partner To Bring Stratum V2 To Today DMND and RootstockLabs announce a new feature rollout intending to further the decentralization of Bitcoin mining. The new feature uses Stratum V2 to enable miners at the pool engaging in their own block template construction to also handle the selection and inclusion of merge-mined block commitments from the Rootstock (RSK) sidechain as well.
Merge-mining is a process by which multiple blockchains can share, or “reuse”, the same POW from the same set of miners. One blockchain, the child chain, structures its block headers to include the headers of the parent chain, i.e. the hash of the child chain’s block header is actually included inside a parent chain block (usually in the coinbase transaction), and software for the child chain is aware of this, actually validating part of the parent chain’s blocks in the process of verifying the child chain’s blocks.
This allows miners of the parent chain to mine multiple blockchains at once by simply including blockheader commitments in their coinbase transaction, and then mining blocks for the parent blockchain. When one is found for the parent chain, one is found for all of the child chains as well.
DMND’s integration allows miners to claim the sidechain rewards in sBTC (Rootstock’s bitcoin backed token whose reserves are managed by the federation operating the sidechain) directly on the sidechain, with no revenue sharing or intermediary pool custody.
