World Gold Council plans to build shared infrastructure platform for digital gold

The World Gold Council (WGC), a London-based industry body established to promote gold markets on behalf of leading mining companies, has proposed “Gold as a Service,” a shared infrastructure that connects physical gold custody with digital issuance and management.

The initiative aims to make it much easier for companies to launch gold-backed products by providing a ready-made, trusted system instead of building everything from scratch, as noted in a whitepaper co-authored with Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

With “Gold as a Service,” WGC wants to reduce complexity when it comes to launching digital gold offerings, while ensuring trust, compliance, and efficient operations.

Issuers can focus on customer-facing elements such as pricing, branding, and user experience as the platform handles backend operations.

The model works through three integrated layers: a physical layer that manages real gold (sourcing, storage, transport, and redemption), a digital layer that enables the issuance and management of digital gold products, and a connecting layer that keeps physical gold and digital records synchronized.

US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Paul Atkins recently outlined how the agency plans to approach digital asset regulation. Moving away from its past “regulation by enforcement” approach, the SEC will first focus on interpreting how federal securities laws apply to crypto.
According to the SEC’s interpretive guidance released this week, most cryptocurrencies are likely not securities under federal law. Atkins emphasized that the only crypto assets still subject to securities laws are “tokenized traditional securities.” Digital commodities, digital tools, NFTs, and stablecoins generally fall outside the SEC’s regulatory scope.
Atkins stressed that this guidance “provides long-needed clarity, but it is a beginning, not an end.” Meanwhile, the CLARITY Act, a market structure bill moving through Congress, aims to give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) more authority over digital assets. Closed-door meetings between the White House and senators reportedly made “very positive progress,” especially on stablecoin yield issues.
Overall, US crypto regulation appears to be moving toward a clearer and more structured framework, giving investors and the market more certainty.

Whenever the market hits resistance, people naturally start watching for FOMO.

Presently, Bitcoin [BTC] is hovering around $70k, having dropped about 3.5% over the past week. That’s a classic sign of weak follow-through, leaving the market split between those looking to “buy the dip” and those holding onto recent gains.

AMBCrypto recently highlighted that 48k BTC moved out of STHs, showing many traders were quick to take profits rather than chase FOMO. Moreover, a recent CryptoQuant report offered a deeper look into retail behavior, showing patterns of inflows that often line up with market turning points.

Looking at the chart above, Binance is seeing some serious retail activity. On the 11th of March, a massive $131.8 million flowed into the exchange in just one hour. However, that momentum didn’t stop there: About $55 million came in on the 13th of March, followed by another $50 million three days later.

From a technical standpoint, spikes like this usually mean retail traders are moving funds onto the exchange to trade, whether chasing momentum, taking profits, or setting up short-term positions.

According to AMBCrypto, these inflows act as a key signal for spotting FOMO, especially around Bitcoin’s $70k level.

Notably, when layered with other indicators, they provide a clearer view of where the market is headed.

Retail frenzy raises questions about Bitcoin’s breakout

The recent retail moves into Binance aren’t happening in isolation.

Take the $50 million inflow on the 16th of March. Technically, it lined up with Bitcoin hitting resistance at $75k, kicking off three days of declines, triggering long-liquidation sweeps, and pushing BTC down to $70k. Now, it looks like “speculative FOMO” is creeping back in.

Crypto investor Roger Metz’s attempt to block Internal Revenue Service (IRS) summons for his financial records has hit a wall. 

The taxman had sought an audit of Metz’s 2022 federal tax return, but the situation quickly escalated. 

Although the user initially found the omission by Coinbase and filed an amended tax return for an additional $14,700 for the 2022 period, the agency sought Metz’s entire activity on the platform since its launch. 

The watchdog requested additional data, including account information, physical addresses, communications with Coinbase, and detailed platform activity logs.

In response, Metz filed a petition in the Northern District of California last year, seeking to bar the IRS summons. Through his lawyers, he argued that the IRS request was ‘overbroad and irrelevant’ because it was asking for years of personal data that was unrelated to the 2022 tax audit. 

For him, the IRS’s overture to access his private communications and account logs was a privacy breach. He added that the taxman acted in ‘bad faith’ because it didn’t communicate with him even after filing the amended 2022 federal tax return.

A U.S. appeals court has permitted the state of Nevada to pursue legal action against predictionmarket platform Kalshi. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals denied Kalshi’s request to block a possible temporary restraining order (TRO). If approved, Kalshi may have to stop operating in the state for a short time, likely around two weeks, until the next hearing.

What this Case carries

The problem began in March 2025 when Kalshi received a cease-and-desist order from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Because it believes that sports-related prediction contracts violate state gambling laws, the regulator asked Kalshi to cease providing them. Kalshi countered that federalregulations, not state regulations, govern its products.

With the court decision, Nevada may now issue a temporary restraining order. Legal experts say that this order could come very soon, and Kalshi could be forced to stop operating in Nevada, and the ban could last at least two weeks.

Kalshi warned that it would face serious harm if the court did not intervene. The firm says that it could face multiple legal cases at the same time, and different courts might give conflicting decisions. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) supports Kalshi’s view. The CFTC says it has authority over prediction markets, while states like Nevada believe they also have control, especially for sports-related products.

The court’s decision represents a setback for Kalshi and provides an opportunity for Nevada to take more robust action. The next few days will be important, as a temporary ban on Kalshi in Nevada could be enforced soon. More updates are expected soon as the state court moves forward with the case.
