The world's largest stablecoin issuer received 951 BTC ($70.5 million) from a Bitfinex hot wallet to an address labeled as its bitcoin reserve, according to Arkham Intelligence data.

The move is consistent with Tether's pattern of accumulating bitcoin and moving the asset to its reserve wallet periodically. Last November, Tether moved 961 BTC (then worth $97 million) from Bitfinex to its bitcoin reserve.

A proposed court deal in the movie2k case could put another 57,000 Bitcoin within reach of the German state, reviving a supply-overhang story that the market thought had largely passed after Saxony’s 2024 Bitcoin liquidation. Local news MDR reported this week that the presiding judge has outlined a possible agreement that would let Saxony keep the €2.64 billion ($3.112 billion) already raised from last year’s Bitcoin sale and potentially obtain access to additional coins allegedly still controlled by the main defendant.

German State Could Gain Access To 57,000 $BTC

The case centers on the former operators of the illegal streaming portal movie2k.to, now on trial. The lead defendant, 42, is charged in part with commercial money laundering, while a second defendant, 39, faces money-laundering and tax-evasion allegations. The original copyright offenses tied to roughly 220,000 unauthorized works are now time-barred, but the fight over the Bitcoin fortune remains very much alive. After the main defendant’s arrest in 2023, authorities received 49,858 $BTC, which were later sold in June and July 2024 for about €2.64 billion.

According to MDR’s reporting, the judge sketched the deal on Monday as a way to shorten proceedings rather than litigate every alleged money-laundering violation one by one. Under that outline, the main defendant would confess and receive a prison sentence of one to one-and-a-half years, suspended on probation, while the co-defendant would receive eight to 12 months, also suspended. The real market-moving clause is elsewhere: Saxony would be able to lawfully confiscate the 2024 sale proceeds, and the defendant would also hand over access to another 57,000 $BTC (worth roughly $4.224 billion) that prosecutors believe he still controls.

$XRP could be gearing up for a move ahead of the 2026 midterms, and crypto analyst Zach Rector breaks down what’s going on behind the scenes.

He points out that markets are currently stuck in a “liquidity squeeze,” driven by rising global debt, geopolitical tensions, and capital outflows, something even the IMF has flagged. Add to that the yen carry trade unwind, private credit stress, and oil price swings from Middle East tensions, and it’s creating a broader “global margin call,” where assets, including crypto, face selling pressure.

At the same time, inflation is picking up again, with the U.S. PPI hitting around 4%. Interestingly, he said that liquidity isn’t gone; central bank balance sheets hint it’s already creeping back quietly.

Still, he keeps the sentiments slow: expect a “drop before the pop.” A deeper shakeout could come before things turn bullish.

Reason 1: Liquidity Injection & Lower Rates

The first trigger is the central bank’s participation. With economic stress building, he expects rate cuts and fresh liquidity injections. A new Fed chair is also expected soon, potentially accelerating this change. More liquidity means more capital flowing into risk assets like $XRP.

Reason 2: Clarity Act & Regulatory Green Light

The second trigger is regulation. The Clarity Act is moving forward, and recent SEC guidance has already opened doors for builders on the $XRP Ledger. This removes a major roadblock that held back development for years.

With compliance already built into the system, $XRP stands in a strong position as institutions look for legally clear platforms.

Bitcoin price jumped past $75,000 on Wednesday as traders recalibrated what the asset represents in the wake of the Iran conflict and an unusually stretched derivatives market. Price action, positioning data, and a real-world test of bitcoin as a settlement rail now point to a market that values the token as more than a volatile wager on tech risk.

Bitcoin price traded around $74,000 to $75,000 on April 15, extending a rebound that began after a February low near $60,000. The move leaves the asset up roughly 23% from that trough and about 3% on the week, even as broader macro and geopolitical headlines remain tense.

Spot markets now face stiff resistance in the $75,000 to $76,000 band, a zone several analysts flag as the ceiling of a two‑month consolidation range.

Short term, traders frame the outlook around a simple line in the sand. If bitcoin price can hold above support near $71,000 and secure a clean break above $76,000, momentum models start to point toward a run into the high‑$70,000s or even $80,000 over the coming weeks, according to Bitcoin Magazine Pro data.

Failure at that band keeps the range intact and invites another pullback toward $70,000 and the low‑$60,000s where the last leg of the rally started.

Derivatives flash bottoming pattern for bitcoin price

Beneath the spot chart, futures markets tell a story of persistent skepticism. The 30‑day average funding rate on perpetual swaps has remained negative for 46 straight days, matching the stretch of negative funding seen near the late‑2022 bear market bottom, according to research firm K33.

That means traders who hold long positions in perpetual futures have collected fees from shorts, even as price has drifted higher.
