Bitcoin (BTC) traders are boosting purchases, signaling the start of a perceived long-term recovery. Within 72 hours, several on-chain metrics flagged as red drivers have flipped, fueling the market resurgence. At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades under $75,000 with bulls attempting to break the mark.
The Bull Score Index has pumped new momentum to traders looking to steer Bitcoin’s course. After months in the red zone, the metric is now at the highest level since October 2025. Within 12 hours, it surged above 40, entering neutral territory. 

On-chain analysts explained the possible implications when viewed in a broader context. The BSI coincides with a price uptick above $74,000, pointing to a gradual improvement in trading conditions. In October, Bitcoin was relatively bullish as investors ramped up assets for crypto treasuries and other offerings. 

This is a stark contrast to present conditions, as the metric crept above 40 once more. Bulls opine a gradual recovery following weak momentum and risks that liquidate retail and institutional traders. While in neutral levels and different from the Q4 2025 uptick, the charts don’t show clear signs of weakness. 

In addition to the BSI metric, other on-chain factors have supported a price rebound over the past few months. Bitcoin trading volume has constantly exceeded the altcoin trading volume threshold for two months. Furthermore, short-term holders might be selling into the top crypto rise, allowing larger holders to pick up assets toward long-term gains.

Historically, a crypto rebound has been driven by multiple strategies at different investor levels. Retail and short-term traders tend to seek early profits to hedge prior losses, while whales absorb those positions.

Coinbase (COIN) shares are being viewed as increasingly “de-risked” after a sharp first-quarter decline of around 26%, which erased earlier gains from the Q1 rebound.
According to William Blair analysts, much of the weakness in trading volumes and transaction revenue is already priced into the stock. They also noted that Street estimates are likely to trend lower, but this should not come as a surprise to investors. With Coinbase expected to report Q1 2026 earnings on May 7, sentiment impact from results may be limited.
Beyond short-term pressure, the long-term narrative is shifting toward Coinbase’s expanding “everything exchange” strategy. The platform is steadily broadening its ecosystem with derivatives, staking services, equities trading, and prediction markets—enhancing its competitive positioning beyond spot trading.
A key driver of optimism is the continued growth of USDC, Coinbase’s closely linked stablecoin through Circle. USDC has been steadily gaining market share from USDT, even as new entrants like PayPal and Trump-linked World Liberty Financial begin to emerge in the stablecoin space.
Data shows USDC now accounts for roughly 27% of the $300 billion stablecoin market, up from about 21% in 2024.
Overall, while near-term trading activity remains under pressure, Coinbase’s structural growth story—driven by USDC expansion and product diversification—continues to strengthen.

The Stablecoin Development Corporation is a publicly-traded holding company with an approximate 2.15 billion SKY token treasury.

Tether announced on Wednesday that it supported SDEV's $134 million private placement in January.

Tether has named itself as a backer of the publicly-traded holding company Stablecoin Development Corporation's previously announced $134 million fundraise, according to a release on Wednesday.

SDEV, the firm's NYSE American ticker and frequent abbreviation, is designed to provide public market investors with structured exposure to the stablecoin sector, including through its strategic position in Sky (formerly MakerDAO).

The firm holds SKY, the governance token for the Sky Protocol, and uses Sky's USDS stablecoin, the third-largest stablecoin by market capitalization and the largest that's fully onchain.
