After months of volatile price action following its all-time high of around $126,000 in 2025, Bitcoin is once again dividing market sentiment. Some traders still expect another leg down, while others believe the bottom may already be in.
Now, a growing number of technical signals are strengthening the case for a potential bottom formation.
According to crypto analyst Sykodelic, the probability of Bitcoin printing new lows has dropped significantly based on long-term indicators — particularly weekly momentum data.
A rare RSI signal is flashing
One of the key arguments comes from the weekly Relative Strength Index (RSI). Historically, Bitcoin has only seen the weekly RSI drop below 30 on three occasions — with the most recent occurring in Q1 2026.
What stands out this time is not just the oversold reading, but the recovery pattern. The RSI has rebounded strongly and broken above a long-term descending trendline, a structure that often signals a shift from bearish momentum to early bullish recovery phases.
Multiple bottom signals are aligning
Sykodelic also highlights that this isn’t an isolated indicator. According to his analysis, around 12 different long-term bottom signals have now aligned — a level of convergence rarely seen in previous cycles.
Supporting this view, on-chain and market data show strengthening fundamentals:
Bitcoin exchange reserves have fallen to a 7-year low, suggesting reduced selling pressure
Whale wallets have accumulated over $2 billion worth of Bitcoin in recent weeks
Spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded strong inflows, including nearly $1 billion in April alone following positive momentum in March
These flows suggest that larger players may already be positioning for the next phase of the cycle.

Even though oil has dropped nearly 11% on Friday, crypto has followed a different trajectory. Bitcoin is up about 5% for the day, and both Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) have posted similar gains. The Catalysts Behind BTC's ResurgenceCommenting on the market reaction, Matt Mena, senior crypto research strategist at 21Shares, told Bloomberg that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is the "risk-on signal" global markets have been waiting for. In his view, removing what he described as one of the most significant geopolitical choke points has helped "uncork" a larger wave of liquidity and investor confidence, supporting demand across risk assets-including digital currencies. One notable driver is institutional buying: Strategy (previously MicroStrategy) has acquired $2.6 billion in Bitcoin during the past two weeks. According to Bohan Jiang, a senior derivatives trader at FalconX, this has helped "underpin" the market, providing additional support as prices rebound. Still, investors are now looking for clarity on how far the rally can extend. What's Next For Bitcoin? "Coinbase Custody holds 84% of all US spot Bitcoin ETF assets," Marc Baumann, founder of research firm fiftyonexyz, posted on X on April 14. "That's $77 billion with a single custodian. For an industry built on decentralization, the most important product category has a single point of failure. Regulators will notice."
The warning is landing as bitcoin trades near $77,000, having clawed back from a 40% drawdown since its late-2025 peak around $126,000. It also lands three weeks after the April 2 conditional approval of a national trust charter for Coinbase by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. "OCC grants Coinbase conditional approval for a National Trust Bank Charter," Swiss law firm Goldblum & Partners posted on X on April 13, noting that "11 crypto firms now in the federal banking pipeline" and that a new rule, 12 CFR 5.20, "explicitly permits non-fiduciary crypto custody for national trust banks." That regulatory blessing, in a twist, deepens the concentration analysts are now calling out.

Bitcoin Hits $78K as Trump Says Strait of Hormuz Is Fully Open



Bitcoin surged on April 17 after the US President Donald Trump said the Strait of Hormuz was open again and shipping passage was being restored.

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that Iran had announced the strait was “fully open and ready for full passage.” He added that sea mines had been removed, or were being removed, with the help of the United States.

Earlier today, Trump posted again that Chinese President Xi Jinping was “very happy” that the Strait of Hormuz was open or rapidly opening. He also said that a meeting coming up in China could be historic.

The market reacted fast as Bitcoin jumped to a 10-week high above $78,000, reaching around $78,400 for the first time since February 4.

At press time, $BTC is trading at $77,163 and is up 3% on the day. Over the past seven days, Bitcoin has been up 6.37%. Ethereum rose 3% after the announcement and is up 5.88% over the weekly period.

Why Markets Moved So Fast

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important oil shipping routes in the world, carrying roughly one-fifth of global crude supply.

Any threat to the route can push oil prices higher and pressure global markets. Reopening the passage reduces supply fears and lowers immediate stress in risk assets.

The rally also came as Trump claimed more progress in talks with Iran. He said both sides would work together to clear mines from the strait.

Trump also said a permanent peace deal between the US, Israel, and Iran was “mostly complete,” with more talks likely this weekend. He added Iran had agreed to suspend its nuclear program indefinitely and would not receive frozen US funds.

Conflicting Signals Remain

The rally came despite mixed responses from Tehran. Iranian lawmaker Mahmoud Nabavian rejected claims that the strait was fully open.
