Japan's Trade Minister Yoji Muto Akazawa hinted at potential policy measures that could support the yen and help contain inflation, reinforcing expectations that the Bank of Japan may consider a rate hike at its end-April meeting

Bitcoin hit by $20 million-an-hour selling pressure above $70,000

The bitcoin market has faced familiar problem since prices rose above $70,000 last week: a sharp rise in profit-taking.

More than $20 million worth of BTC has been sold per hour in profit realization, according to blockchain analytics firm Glassnode.

"Every approach to the $70k–$ 80k band faces thin liquidity and profit-taking pressure, capping the bounce. Another bounce to >$70k range was exhausted by >$20M/Hour profit realization," Glassnode said on X.

The message is clear: the $70,000–$80,000 band is less a battleground of conviction and more a persistent distribution zone, as has been observed since February.

In other words, rallies above $70,000 are consistently turning into liquidity events. Instead of buyers chasing momentum higher, holders are using strength as an exit window and the result is a market where every uptick is met with an immediate counterweight of supply.

Bitcoin is struggling to build momentum above $70,000. Prices briefly touched nearly $74,000 on Saturday before slipping back below $71,000 at the time of writing, as the breakdown in Islamabad peace talks between the U.S. and Iran pushed oil higher and weighed on U.S. stock futures.

Until that $20 million-per-hour pressure eases, bitcoin’s ceiling isn’t technical, but behavioral.

Bitcoin mining and AI may be on opposite decentralization paths: Reseacher


Bitcoin mining runs the risk of becoming more centralized as time goes on, while artificial intelligence could be moving in the opposite direction, according to Galaxy Research head Alex Thorn.

Thorn said that while Bitcoin mining began decentralized, with users mining Bitcoin on their personal computers, it has since become far more centralized, requiring ASIC miners or industrial-scale farms.

“AI may follow the opposite path,” said Galaxy’s research head Alex Thorn on Sunday, explaining that AI started centralized in giant hosted clusters, but as frontier models experience “data scarcity, context limits, and memory bottlenecks, open-source models could close the gap.”

“If local models keep getting smaller, cheaper, and more efficient, AI may become increasingly personal and on-device.”

The divergence strikes at the heart of crypto’s core promise: decentralization. If Bitcoin mining were to continue down a path of centralization, it could begin to raise concerns about the network’s long-term resilience.

XRP Notes Strongest ETF Week Since February

$XRP has just achieved its biggest ETF inflow as institutional demand appears to have returned after its recent price rally, sparking optimism across the crypto market.

The last 24-hour trading session saw all existing $XRP funds collectively attract about $9 million in new capital. While this appears relatively low, it is the highest daily inflow recorded since Feb. 6, 2026.

$XRP ETFs hit two-month high

According to data from SosoValue, the large single-day inflow, seen on April 10, has driven a stronger weekly report for the $XRP ETF ecosystem.

Following the resurgence in institutional demand for the $XRP-based investment product, $XRP ETFs have recorded $11.75 million in inflows over the past week.

While this resurgence was preceded by multiple weeks of extremely low performance, this inflow saw $XRP record its strongest ETF week since Feb. 6, 2026.

As such, the $XRP ETF market has just achieved a two-month high in inflows following the wave of fresh capital poured into the funds at the end of the week.

The surge in capital intake was mostly fueled by the Bitwise $XRP ETF as it continues to dominate the market with larger inflows, compared to its peers.

Further data revealed that the strong inflow seen during the last trading session was fueled by the $XRP ETFs offered by Bitwise and Franklin Templeton alone. Other funds remained dormant, recording zero ETF flow for the day.
