Crypto Founder Says Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Suffer Quantum Threat Risks, but XRP Has an Edge

A prominent crypto founder says Bitcoin, Ethereum, and $XRP all suffer quantum threat risks, but $XRP may have an advantage over the others.

Discussions about the impact of quantum computing on blockchain security have picked up the pace as researchers assess whether future quantum machines could break the cryptographic systems used by major networks.

After studying these potential risks, Versan Aljarrah, founder of Black Swan Capitalist, recently explained that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and $XRP all rely on cryptographic methods that could theoretically become vulnerable if quantum computing advances far enough.

While none of the networks have full protection against the growing quantum threat, Aljarrah suggested that $XRP may have an advantage because of how the original architects structured the $XRP Ledger (XRPL).

Key Points

Versan Aljarrah argued that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and $XRP are not currently quantum-proof because they rely on elliptic curve cryptography, which a powerful quantum computer could theoretically break.

He warned that if quantum computers reach that capability, the impact could extend to systems like global banking networks, SWIFT, military encryption, and parts of the internet.

Aljarrah argued that updating the cryptography in Bitcoin or Ethereum would require complex upgrades or hard forks, which could destabilize their networks.

He explained that the $XRP Ledger can upgrade its cryptography through validator consensus at the protocol level without disruptions and long debates, giving it an edge over Bitcoin and Ethereum.

AVAX has returned to the spotlight after AVAX One repurchased 2.4 million shares under its $40 million share buyback program. According to an updatet, the move signals confidence in the company’s long-term strategy.

CEO Jolie Kahn described the repurchase as a reflection of disciplined capital deployment. Such moves often strengthen investor sentiment. They also tend to put a lot of spotlight on the broader ecosystem.

Institutional demand begins to appear

In fact, at the time of writing, market data suggested that that larger investors have already started positioning themselves.

AVAX’s Open Interest has been rising slightly over the past 24 hours. Rising Open Interest often signals new capital entering the derivatives market. This is usually associated with growing institutional participation.

Such a signal becomes stronger when combined with whale activity.

AVAX whales are also making moves

Avalanche network whales are also aligning to surging institutional purchases. According to the Spot Average Order Size data, token whales have been heavily investing on the dip.

Large investors are accumulating more orders across both Spot and Futures markets. This type of accumulation usually is evidence of strategic positioning, rather than short-term speculation.

Buyers gain control of derivatives market

Another shift is happening in the derivatives market. Buyers have started to dominate Futures trading activity. This change in order flow could mean improving market confidence.

Historically, when buyers control derivatives markets, rallies often gain stronger support. The same projection could replicate itself on AVAX’s price action.

Technical structure sends mixed signals

Finally, the technical outlook seemed to be presenting mixed signals at press time. On the daily chart, AVAX was continuing to trade above a wedge consolidation pattern. This meant that

The broader crypto market crashed following poor-than-expected macroeconomic data from the United States. Investors pulled significant capital out of risky assets and turned to capital preservation.

As a result, crypto assets, especially Ethereum, recorded notable losses across the board. The altcoin breached the $2k support again, hitting a low of $1956 before rebounding slightly.

With ETH facing a greater risk of downside, it would seem that whales might be stepping in across Futures and Spot markets to take positions.

Ethereum whales in the Futures show bearishness

After Ethereum fell below $2k, some long holders were forced out of the market. Long position liquidations surpassed $56 million according to Coinglass data.

With longs facing liquidations, some whales flipped and turned to short positions, according to Onchain Lens. In fact, a whale deposited $2.18 million into Hyperliquid and opened an ETH short position with 10x leverage.

Interestingly, this was not an isolated case either as ETH saw a significant increase in short positions too. CoinGlass revealed that the altcoin’s Long/Short Ratio fell below 1, dropping to 0.96 at press time.

This finding suggested that Futures participants were bearish and took short positions, in anticipation of further losses.

Dormant whale stakes ETH worth $16 million

While whales on the Futures are betting against the market, others have exhibited more long-term optimism. Thanks to a prolonged bearish structure, long-term holders, especially whales, have seen their profit margins erode, while others have fallen into unrealized losses.

These prevailing conditions prompted a dormant whale to wake up after a year and turn to staking. Onchain Lens reported that the whale staked 8,208 ETH, worth $16.85 million, with Kiln_finance.

Initially, this whale had accumulated these tokens for $16.09 million over four years.

В феврале число рабочих мест вне сельского хозяйства с учетом сезонных колебаний сократилось на 92 000 человек, достигнув отрицательного уровня впервые с октября 2025 года. Рыночные ожидания предполагали увеличение на 59 000 человек.

За тот же период уровень безработицы в США также вырос. В феврале уровень безработицы поднялся до 4,4%, достигнув самого высокого уровня с декабря 2025 года и превысив рыночные ожидания в 4,3%.
