Ric Edelman has predicted that up to 95% of institutions without crypto exposure could enter the market if the CLARITY Act becomes law.

In a recent interview, Edelman said the disconnect between crypto prices and industry activity has become increasingly noticeable as large financial firms continue expanding their blockchain and tokenization efforts.

While cryptocurrency markets have struggled to maintain momentum amid regulatory uncertainty, Edelman said major Wall Street institutions, including BlackRock, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Franklin Templeton, State Street, Invesco, and Fidelity, continue building products and services tied to digital assets.

“Crypto prices are not reflecting what’s happening in the world of crypto,” Edelman said, pointing to rising institutional engagement even as investors remain cautious.

Institutional demand continues to build
Drawing attention to recent industry surveys and conversations with market participants, Edelman said many institutions that currently have no crypto exposure are preparing to enter the sector.

According to Edelman, 95% of institutions that do not currently own crypto expect to make their first allocation this year. He added that roughly three-quarters of institutions that already hold digital assets intend to increase their existing exposure.

Even with those expectations, capital has not yet entered the market at the scale many industry participants anticipated. Edelman attributed part of that hesitation to uncertainty surrounding U.S. crypto legislation, periodic Bitcoin ETF outflows, and continued political opposition from lawmakers such as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

Crypto critic Roubini joins tokenization boom with onchain 'Technodollar'Nouriel Roubini, the economist known as "Dr. Doom" for predicting the 2008 financial crisis and who later became one of crypto's most vocal critics, is making his first move into blockchain-based finance.

Roubini co-authored a whitepaper for USAFi, a tokenized investment product being developed by Atlas Capital Team, according to a Tuesday announcement.

USAFi is the tokenized version of the Atlas America Fund (USAF), an ETF overseen by Roubini and listed on Nasdaq. Atlas described the token as a blockchain-based security that gives investors exposure to the underlying fund while allowing it to move and settle on blockchain rails.

The company plans to launch the asset in the third quarter under Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) framework, the firm said.

Securitize, one of the largest tokenization platforms, said in an X post that it was selected to provide the tokenization infrastructure for the project, calling it Roubini's "first move into blockchain."

The launch is the latest example of tokenization, a fast-growing sector that puts traditional assets such as funds, bonds and stocks on blockchain networks. Supporters argue the technology can make assets easier to transfer and settle, reach a wider set of investors globally while enabling around-the-clock trading.

Major firms including BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and Apollo have launched tokenized investment products, helping drive the market for tokenized assets above $30 billion excluding stablecoins, according to rwa.xyz data.

The system, announced Tuesday as a demo, uses STRK20 privacy features and zero-knowledge STARK proofs to let users prove specific attributes, such as being older than 18 or holding valid credentials, without revealing their full passport details or address.“Whether you need to prove you’re over 18, hold a valid credential or meet an eligibility rule, verification should only confirm the precise fact,” StarkWare said. Corporations should not collect the full identity behind it, “because every identity database becomes a liability the moment it exists.”

KYC compliance involves handing over personal information and trusting companies to keep it safe. The rollout comes as the US hit a record 3,322 data compromises in 2025, a 79% increase over five years, and the global average cost of a data breach is $4.4 million, according to StationX.

StarkWare users start by scanning their passport on their phones, using the camera and NFC chip to read and confirm the document is genuine and signed by its issuing authority.

They can then encrypt identity data to their Starknet wallet, register attributes in a public onchain registry, and submit zero-knowledge proofs for selective checks. Verifiers can confirm eligibility by reading the public registry without ever seeing the actual identity data.

The business is expected to operate under the Fortitude name and trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol TUDE, subject to regulatory approvals.

Under the terms of the transaction, existing HeartSciences shareholders will retain a minority ownership stake. HeartSciences, which develops AI-powered cardiac diagnostic technologies, will continue operating under the leadership of chief executive Andrew Simpson.
