The altcoin market may be quietly entering a new bullish phase, according to Michaël van de Poppe, the CIO and Founder of MN Fund, MN Capital, and New Era Finance. In an exclusive interview with Coinpedia, Van de Poppe said investor appetite for altcoins has changed significantly compared to six months ago, even as Bitcoin continues to struggle near recent lows. Notably, Michaël van de Poppe has been recognized for successfully anticipating such market rotations in the past.

Recent market data appears to support this shift. According to CoinGecko, altcoin market capitalization has climbed to around $84.1 billion, while the Altcoin Season Index currently sits at 47, just below the 50 level that often signals broader altcoin dominance. Trading activity has also surged, with altcoin volume jumping more than 218% in the past 24 hours.

Altcoins Are Outperforming Bitcoin

Van de Poppe says current price action is not typical of a bear market. Michaël van de Poppe’s observations indicate that trends in crypto assets may be diverging from previous cycles.

“It’s already fascinating to see that there’s a change in appetite on altcoins versus six months ago,” he said.

Despite Bitcoin remaining weak, several altcoins have already reached yearly highs, while some have even posted new all-time highs.

“Those aren’t signals of a bear market to happen, those are signals of a bull market that’s starting up, although there’s just one asset staying behind: Bitcoin,” Van de Poppe explained.

He added that if concerns surrounding Strategy’s STRC situation ease, liquidity could flow back into crypto markets, leading to more altcoin breakouts. In this case, Michaël van de Poppe expects a stronger trend for mid-cap assets.

The license comes during a week when institutional attention in Europe is unusually high as the MiCA CASP deadline looms. For Ripple, this milestone marks the end of a multi-year regulatory build-out that started with its registration of Ripple Payments Europe.

How Ripple benefits from EMI and CASP licenses 

The EMI license held by Ripple covers fiat-denominated electronic money services. It allows for regulated stablecoin payments, direct debit, and e-money issuance. On the other hand, the CASP layer covers crypto-asset exchange, transfer, and custody services under MiCA’s unified rulebook. 

With both licenses, Ripple can now handle the full spectrum in-house. The platform can now legally handle a customer sending euros by converting them into RLUSD or XRP, then routing the payment cross-border and issuing the local currency equivalent to the recipient.

An article published on the website of asset management giant Fidelity Investments has drawn attention for highlighting bullish price forecasts for XRP.

The piece links an $8 XRP price prediction to spot XRP ETF inflows and a more favorable regulatory environment in the United States.

The article has been widely shared within the XRP community. However, it is not Fidelity’s own research. Instead, it was part of a syndicated crypto news feed hosted on the firm’s platform.

The report references several third-party forecasts. According to the article, Standard Chartered believes XRP could reach $8 if spot XRP ETFs attract significant investor demand and U.S. regulations become more supportive of digital assets.

The article also cites analysts on TradingView who expect XRP to rise toward $3.30 and $8.50 after breaking out of a long-term symmetrical triangle pattern.

Other long-term models mentioned in the report are even more optimistic. They project XRP could reach $12.04 in the medium term and climb to $26 by 2030 with ETF adoption.

X user Tom highlighted the article and argued that both Standard Chartered and Fidelity were pointing toward an $8 XRP target. Citing a breakout and successful retest of a nine-year consolidation pattern, he expects XRP to reach between $8 and $10 before year-end.

JustLend DAO adds U stablecoin lending market on TRONJustLend DAO has expanded its lending platform by launching support for supply and borrowing of U, a TRC-20 stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar.

According to a June 21 announcement, users can now deposit and borrow U directly on the protocol after the asset was added as a collateralizable market on June 20, 2026, Singapore time.

The launch follows a governance proposal that outlined the market’s lending parameters and interest rate structure.

The protocol said U is issued by United Stables and maintains its peg through reserves backed on a 1:1 basis. JustLend DAO described the asset as a stablecoin designed for digital commerce, machine-to-machine payments, and AI-focused financial applications on the TRON network.

U market launches with separate lending parameters
JustLend DAO said the U market opened with a collateral factor of 0% and a reserve factor of 10%. The collateral factor means users can borrow U on the platform, but cannot use U itself as collateral to obtain other loans at launch.

The protocol also introduced a jumping interest rate model for the market. Under the structure, borrowing costs rise sharply once utilization exceeds 80%.

JustLend DAO’s published parameters show borrow APY reaches 5% at 80% utilization before climbing to 42.5% at 90% utilization and 80% at full utilization.

Supply APY follows a similar trajectory, rising from 3.6% at 80% utilization to 34.43% at 90% utilization and 72% when utilization reaches 100%.

In a statement on X, JustLend DAO said the addition of U expands the range of stablecoin assets available on the platform and provides users with another source of on-chain liquidity.
