The main driver of this resurgence in $POL’s price action is the thriving network activity. Whales have also been pumping capital into the altcoin over the past few days.

Polygon transaction activity hits a month’s peak

Polygon processed nearly eight million transactions in a day, the highest daily transaction count this month.

To be specific, the figure is slightly over 7.95 million but has since started to decline. However, the volume is still significant, as it is averaging above 7 million per day.

In total, Polygon has processes over 7.54 billion transactions since it was launched. The activity has skyrocketed with the launch of payment infrastructures. Polygon now supports over 5,000 payments per second.

Good news for the American worker came at the worst possible moment for Bitcoin. Initial jobless claims fell by 4,000 to 226,000 for the week ending June 13. Layoffs are in the historically low range they've held for most of the post-pandemic era, and the unemployment rate has remained at 4.3% for a third straight month.

These numbers would look unambiguously healthy in almost any other setting. But Bitcoin didn't seem to agree and slid below $64,000, down almost 3% on the day, after touching an intraday high of $66,315 the previous afternoon.

$BTC spent the spring positioned as an asset waiting for the Federal Reserve to loosen financial conditions, and every reading showing a resilient labor market pushes that moment further into the future.

When hiring holds and firing stays contained, the Fed keeps the room it needs to keep policy tight, and Bitcoin has spent two years trading as a liquidity-sensitive instrument that responds to the expected path of interest rates far more than to whether a given economic print sounds encouraging to the people inside it.

Each of those labor numbers feeds directly into the market's running estimate of what the Fed will do next, which is how a weekly jobless claims report ended up affecting the crypto market.

Investors are moving from owning assets to buying probability, and options are beginning to shape how prices form.

Options trading is increasingly overtaking outright ownership across crypto, equities, prediction markets, and tokenized assets.

03The trend looks broad, but gross volume may overstate exposure, and Bitcoin faces a major June 26 expiry test.

Bitcoin dropped below $60,000 by mid-June after a punishing start to the month, but the figure drawing the most attention across trading desks is the June 26 Bitcoin options expiry, with over $10 billion of contracts set to expire and roughly 80% currently sitting out of the money.
In equity markets, zero-days-to-expiry options now make up well over half of daily S&P 500 index options volume, up from around 5% in 2020.

Those two numbers come from very different corners of finance, but they describe the same underlying development: an options trading boom that has pushed contracts on what assets might do next into the most active part of modern markets, while ownership of those assets has slipped into a supporting role.
Finance as we know it is drifting from an economy built on ownership toward one built on optionality, where investors place a growing premium on flexibility, asymmetric payoffs, and exposure to probability itself.

Options, perpetual futures, prediction contracts, and tokenized derivatives are now the instruments through which markets discover prices and route capital.

Crypto reached this point first, which is why the strongest evidence for the supremacy of options first appears in Bitcoin and Ethereum before it surfaces in traditional assets.
