Billionaire Says He'll 'Never and Win 1,500U Buy The Al Bubble', 80% Of His Portfolio Still Sits In Bitcoin

Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas increased Bitcoin's share in his liquid portfolio to 80%, up from 70%, emphasizing a Warren Buffett-style value investing approach.

He said he avoids the "Al bubble" and does not hold stocks or bonds, retaining the remainder in gold and silver miners.

Salinas endorsed Strategy's Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock as a favorable investment and defended Michael Saylor amid criticisms of Strategy being a "Ponzi scheme."

Billionaire Ricardo Salinas said he has increased Bitcoin's (BTC) share of his liquid portfolio to 80% and has no interest in chasing the artificial intelligence boom.

Speaking to CoinDesk this week, Salinas explained that he "would never buy the Al bubble" and that he continued to accumulate Bitcoin through its eight-month slide from above $120,000 last year in October to roughly $60,000, increasing his allocation from a previously disclosed 70%.

The billionaire framed the move as classical value investing rather than speculation.

Michael Saylor, the chairman of the world's largest Bitcoin treasury firm, Strategy, has recently shared a brief story, reflecting on the tough moments in the history of the company, which have now become its strengths today.

In the post, Saylor discussed how far the company has come since it continued to witness consistent market weakness, especially in 2022, when it faced its lowest moment.

In his statement, Saylor recalled that when he gave a speech in October 2022, Bitcoin was trading around $20,000 and the firm only held about 130,000 $BTC, worth around $2.6 billion at the time.

While its stock, MSTR, also traded near $24 on a split-adjusted basis during that period, it marked the beginning of the company's trials, as the weeks that followed saw Bitcoin enter a deep correction phase.

At that point, the market conditions began to prove challenging for Strategy as Bitcoin dropped below $16,000 and Strategy faced mounting pressure.

At that point, Strategy had incurred debts that exceeded the combined worth of all its Bitcoin holdings and cash reserves by about $300 million.

This caused MSTR shares to fall from $24 to $13 in just a few weeks. The bright side is that this did not mark the end for Strategy.

According to Saylor, the company remained committed to its long-term goal and continued to aggressively accumulate Bitcoin despite the difficult market situation.

Since it remained resilient and continued to double down on its Bitcoin purchases, Strategy has reportedly raised more than $60 billion in additional capital and invested it in expanding its Bitcoin holdings.

As such, Strategy has added over 716,000 $BTC to its holdings since that time, and currently boasts over 846,000 $BTC in its portfolio.

Japan’s corporate pension fund eyes 1% allocation to crypto, Nikkei reports

A Japanese corporate pension fund that serves roughly 1,200 small and medium-sized businesses plans to add cryptocurrency exposure to its portfolio starting fiscal year 2026, according to Nikkei. The proposal calls for allocating about 1% of the fund’s assets to crypto through a passive investment vehicle managed by a “major” hedge fund holding multiple crypto assets.

Nikkei reports the Nationwide Business Corporate Pension Fund oversees approximately 21.3 billion yen (around $130 million). CoinPost, in a separate report, said the pension fund is incorporating the allocation as part of its diversification effort, with a planned allocation split of 80% to yen, 15% to US dollars, and 5% to other currencies.
