Vocal stock market bull Ed Yardeni says even he hasn’t been bullish enough.The president of Yardeni Research notes in a new CNBC interview that the current market feels like the “roaring 2020s.”In a previous interview earlier this month, Yardeni raised his year-end target for the S&P 500 to 8,250. When asked on Monday whether he was considering raising that target again, the veteran strategist sounded an optimistic tune.“I’ve been among the bulls and I haven’t been bullish enough. I mean it’s really extraordinary. We’ve been in what I call not a FOMO market but a FEMO market, meaning ‘Fabulous Earnings Momentum.’ Earnings have been unbelievably strong.”Yardeni says he’d rather have an earnings-driven melt-up than a valuation-driven melt-up. He also outlines the resilience of the market despite geopolitical headwinds.“That’s been one of our theses, is that you just don’t want to ignore and underestimate the resilience of the US economy and the US consumer, and I think a lot of that is because of me and people like me, which is a lot of Baby Boomers. Illinois governor approves crypto transaction tax despite industry uproar
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed a $55.9 billion state budget bill into law on Tuesday, including a 0.2% "privilege tax" on crypto transactions, despite calls from crypto industry groups urging him to veto the provision.

In a letter addressed to Pritzker ahead of the signing on Tuesday, the Crypto Council for Innovation called for a “line-item veto” of Article 3 of Senate Bill 3019, a transaction tax that applies to all digital asset transactions on any registered platform under broadly termed “digital asset business activity.”

“This will create an unprecedented tax regime that disproportionately burdens Illinois residents for simply using digital assets and will drive innovation and builders out of the state,” CCI said on X on Tuesday.

The wide-reaching digital asset tax could also impact out-of-state companies if they have sufficient customer activity in the state, according to US tax firm BDO USA.

The bill is part of the state budget for fiscal 2027, making Illinois the only state to tax digital asset users this way, regardless of income, gains or profit, unlike traditional tax structures. Digital asset brokers operating in the state are also required to register and comply with new reporting obligations.

Akin to taxing email rather than post

The CCI argued the tax would single out digital assets simply based on the technology used to process them.

“Taxing a transaction based on the medium through which it happens to occur on a blockchain is akin to taxing correspondence because it is delivered by email rather than by post.”

They also said the timing is poor, since the industry is already adjusting to the federal Digital Assets and Consumer Protection Act (DACPA) and Congress is separately working on a national tax framework for crypto assets.

Kalshi perps volume tops $5.5B as it eyes markets beyond crypto
Kalshi’s perpetual futures push has crossed a major early volume mark, as the prediction market platform looks to expand the product beyond crypto-linked contracts.

According to Bloomberg, Kalshi said its perpetual futures products generated more than $5.5 billion in trading volume within two weeks of launch. The company now lists 11 contracts tied to crypto tokens and is speaking with regulators about additional products.

Fast start for Kalshi perpetual futures

Perpetual futures are contracts that do not expire. Bloomberg described them as “never-expiring derivatives,” a structure that lets traders hold long or short exposure without rolling into a new contract at a set date.

The volume mark also shows how quickly Kalshi has shifted from event contracts into a wider derivatives business. Its original prediction market model let users trade on real-world outcomes, while perpetual futures give traders direct exposure to asset prices.

Kalshi’s first wave of perpetual futures remains focused on digital assets. The company has listed contracts linked to crypto markets, while co-founder Tarek Mansour said Kalshi wants to expand the product into other asset classes over time.
Crypto contracts drive early adoption

As previously reported by crypto.news, Kalshi launched CFTC-approved Bitcoin perpetual futures in the United States after receiving approval for the BTCPERP contract on May 29. Reuters has reported that perpetual futures volume reached $61.7 trillion in 2025, showing why U.S. platforms want regulated access to a market long led by offshore exchanges.
