Ad Disclosure Bitcoin (BTC) is making a strong comeback, snapping back toward the $78,000 area for the first time in more than two months as sentiment improves across global markets. The move comes as tensions between the United States and Iran appear to have eased, and the Strait of Hormuz has reopened-an event that has also driven oil prices down to around $88. Even though oil has dropped nearly 11% on Friday, crypto has followed a different trajectory. Bitcoin is up about 5% for the day, and both Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) have posted similar gains. The Catalysts Behind BTC's ResurgenceCommenting on the market reaction, Matt Mena, senior crypto research strategist at 21Shares, told Bloomberg that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is the "risk-on signal" global markets have been waiting for. In his view, removing what he described as one of the most significant geopolitical choke points has helped "uncork" a larger wave of liquidity and investor confidence, supporting demand across risk assets-including digital currencies. One notable driver is institutional buying: Strategy (previously MicroStrategy) has acquired $2.6 billion in Bitcoin during the past two weeks. According to Bohan Jiang, a senior derivatives trader at FalconX, this has helped "underpin" the market, providing additional support as prices rebound. Still, investors are now looking for clarity on how far the rally can extend. What's Next For Bitcoin? Abbas Araqchi confirmed via social media that all

commercial vessels were permitted to transit the

strait for the duration of the 10-day truce. The

ceasefire came after weeks of conflict that began

when Israel invaded Lebanon following Hezbollah's

military support of Iran. The fighting has claimed

thousands of lives and effectively shut down one

of the world's most vital energy corridors since

late February. President Donald Trump praised the

development, calling it a remarkable moment for

global peace. Yet contradictions quickly emerged.

Altcoins in “End Stage” Bear Market? Analyst Michaël van de Poppe Turns Bullish


Altcoin sentiment remains under pressure, and the data backs it. The CMC Altcoin Season Index is currently sitting at 37/100, firmly in Bitcoin season. Just a week ago, it was 34, and a month ago, 53, showing how momentum has faded. Compared to its yearly high of 78, the market is clearly far from an altcoin-driven phase, with most tokens still lagging Bitcoin.

But according to Michaël van de Poppe, this is exactly the kind of setup where reversals begin, and he’s leaning strongly bullish on altcoins from here.

“This Is the End Stage, Not the Beginning”

He says that 2025 has already acted as the bear market for altcoins. “The markets are approaching the end stage of the bear market… not the start,” he said, noting that most altcoins are down more than 90%.

While that drop makes sense after inflated valuations, he now sees the opposite problem. “Markets are currently underpricing the upside of altcoins massively,” he said, signaling his bullish stance on altcoins specifically at current levels.

On Bitcoin, he’s more neutral-to-bullish, suggesting the downside is likely done.

“The bear market of $BTC rarely goes deeper… we’ve already hit that,” he added, implying Bitcoin has likely bottomed and won’t see major further downside.

Macro and Sentiment Starting to Align

He also pointed to macro shifts. Lower volatility in gold and oil typically supports risk assets, while equities lead the move. “Nasdaq vol up → more confidence → $BTC to follow → altcoins to follow,” he explained.

MON Price Analysis: Triple Top Formation

An analysis of the 4-hour chart calls for greater concern about Monad, as a triple top appears to have formed. A string of price developments in the past few days led to this structure, which, from a price standpoint, does not look too good for near-term trends.

The first top started forming on April 10, after a high of $0.0373. The coin consolidated around this area and then tried another breakout the next day. However, MON peaked at $0.0369, completing the first top formation.

After a wave of sideways price trends, MON attempted to break higher again. It peaked at $0.0374 on April 14, forming the second top. Prices were rejected around the same level, and Monad trended lower but tried again a few days later.

On April 16, it rallied again to an intraday high of $0.0375. The token met strong selling supply again and still couldn't overcome it. From the high, Monad has dropped 10% to its current price level.
