A new Ripple 2026 Digital Asset Survey, based on feedback from over 1,000 finance executives across banks, asset managers, fintechs, and corporations, shows a major shift in mindset: 72% now believe offering digital asset services is essential to staying competitive.
That’s a big change from the early days of skepticism. Today, crypto is increasingly being viewed as infrastructure, not experimentation.
Stablecoins Are Becoming Treasury Tools
One of the clearest signals from the report is the growing role of stablecoins in real-world finance.
Around 74% of executives say stablecoins can unlock trapped working capital and improve treasury efficiency, moving far beyond simple payment use cases.
Fintech firms are already leading the way, using stablecoins for everyday payments and settlements. Meanwhile, traditional financial institutions are quietly entering the space through partnerships and integrations rather than building everything from scratch.
Tokenization Is Putting Security First
As tokenization accelerates, institutions are becoming more selective about infrastructure providers.
A striking 89% of respondents highlighted custody and secure asset storage as the top priority when choosing partners. This shows that trust and security are now the foundation of adoption.
Different sectors are also focusing on different layers of the ecosystem:
Banks are prioritizing lifecycle management and advisory services
Asset managers are focusing more on distribution and market access

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson ignited an open dispute with major ecosystem entities such as the Cardano Foundation and Emurgo, questioning the efficiency of their spending. The trigger for the discussion was a request to allocate 14 million $ADA worth around $3,3 million from the treasury to host the annual Cardano Summit and participate in a conference in Singapore.

While $ADA is struggling to hold key price levels, Hoskinson directly stated that "parties" will not save the price — infrastructure will.

Why "party era" of marketing may be over for Cardano

For the cost of this proposal, it is possible to maintain up to six permanent offices worldwide that would operate like a hub in Buenos Aires, Hoskinson emphasized. In his view, only a “living” presence across different parts of the world proves to markets that the Cardano network is thriving, while attending parties delivers only short-term media impact.

As part of the new strategy, the treasury must stop issuing “free grants.” Funded projects would return up to 30% of capital back to the treasury, which would then use the proceeds to buy $ADA from the market, creating natural buy pressure.

As of April, opinions are divided. Skeptics argue that coworking spaces will not lift the price in the short term, as investors are primarily driven by price action, not offices.

Supporters of Hoskinson believe that abandoning expensive conferences in favor of real development is the only way to survive amid intense competition with Solana and Ethereum.

Bitcoin’s recent bounce above $70,000 is starting to look like more than a price bounce. An interesting on-chain analysis of on-chain data points to a change in how capital is moving across the market, with money that previously rotated into stablecoins beginning to edge back into Bitcoin.

That change is still small, but it is arriving as BTC recently reached an intraday high of $73,720 and as macro fears tied to the US-Iran conflict are changing.

The Defensive Phase Is Starting To Fade
Bitcoin’s market structure has been telling a story of restraint for many months. Capital moved to the sidelines, and stablecoins got bigger. Notably, the Bitcoin realized cap, a measure of the aggregate cost basis of all coins in circulation, plunged deep into negative territory, which is a sign that the market had absorbed significant unrealized losses.

This Bitcoin realized cap is the premise of the capital rotation setup, which was shared in a technical analysis by a crypto analyst that goes by the name Darkfost.

At the end of February, Bitcoin’s realized cap change fell to about negative $28.7 billion, which is one of the signs that capital tied to the cryptocurrency had moved into a deeply defensive posture. At the same time, stablecoin market capitalization grew by more than $6 billion, showing that investors were moving funds still in the crypto market instead of keeping that exposure in Bitcoin. According to the analyst, it was the first time this kind of rotation had appeared since the last bear-market phase.

However, the tide may be quietly changing, and the timing of that change has not gone unnoticed. Darkfost’s updated reading shows Bitcoin’s realized cap change recovering to about negative $3 billion, while stablecoin capitalization has fallen to around negative $1 billion.
