Why Bitcoin’s Path to $300,000 May Require $30K Crash First: Analysts Examine Historical Patterns

Bitcoin might rally to $300,000, according to one analyst, who also warned that a major crash must occur before that surge. The forecast comes amid bearish sentiment gripping the market, with BTC crashing 7% over the last month. At press time, Bitcoin traded at $72,050 with a slight 0.14% intraday drop.

In an X post, analyst Crypto Patel noted that some traders are still waiting for Bitcoin to hit its $300,000 target. However, he warned that any rally will have to be preceded by a massive price decline.

“If you’re targeting $300K Bitcoin, You Should Also Be Prepared For A Drop To $30K-$40K. History Repeats: Every Cycle Has Seen 70-85% Corrections Before The Next ATH,” he said.

The analyst went back in time and identified patterns in BTC price where the price crashed first before a bullish leg started. In 2018, the price crashed from around $19,000 to $3,122. The same trend happened again in 2022, when the price dropped from $69,000 to $15,479. 

The analysis was based on a rising wedge pattern, suggesting that Bitcoin is undergoing a bearish reversal, with the corrections indicating price testing of the lower boundary support. For the price to continue its upward trajectory, Patel notes it may drop to around $32,000 before recovery.

Analyst PlanB also supported the thesis that the price will likely continue to drop before gains are seen. He expects the price to drop below the 200-week moving average at $59,000 before the next leg up to the $250,000-$1 million range.

Erik Zhang, Neo co-founder and core developer, has finalized NEP-21, a standard that defines a common interface for Neo N3 decentralized applications to communicate with wallet providers. The standard has reached “Accepted” status in the Neo Enhancement Proposals repository after an extended review period that began in November 2021 and concluded with renewed activity in March.

NEP-21 is aimed at solving a persistent problem in the Neo ecosystem: without a shared interface, dApp developers must write separate integration logic for each wallet, as wallets define their own methods and data formats, causing users to encounter inconsistent behavior depending on which wallet they connect. The new standard gives both sides a common language.

What NEP-21 enables

With NEP-21 in place, dApp developers can build a single wallet integration that works with any compliant wallet rather than maintaining separate code for each provider. Wallet developers gain a clear target to implement, lowering the barrier for new wallets to enter the ecosystem. For users, the result is a more consistent experience when connecting wallets, signing transactions, and interacting with dApps, regardless of which wallet they choose.

The standard forms a chain with two related proposals. NEP-20, the wallet-based authentication standard NNT covered earlier this month, defines how applications verify a user’s control of a NEONeo address. NEP-21 provides the unified interface through which dApps call wallets to complete that authentication and other operations. A related proposal, NEP-33, is aimed at further standardizing the login entry point into a “Sign in with Neo” flow.l

Bitcoin ATM operator Bitcoin Depot said hackers stole 50.9 BTC, worth about $3.665 million, after breaching company systems on March 23. The company disclosed the incident in a Wednesday SEC filing and said attackers used stolen credentials for digital asset settlement accounts to move funds. Bitcoin Depot said the breach did not affect customer-facing platforms or user data, though it classified the event as material due to potential legal and reputational costs.

Bitcoin gains after core CPI rose a less-than-forecast 0.2% in March.

As expected, U.S. inflation accelerated last month, driven mostly by rising energy costs linked to the Middle East conflict. Core prices, though, surprised to the downside.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.9% in March, according to a Friday report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Economists had forecast a 0.9% rise, and February's increase was 0.3%.

On a year-over-year basis, CPI was higher by 3.3% against expectations of 3.3% and February's 2.4%.

Core CPI, which excludes food and energy costs, was more subdued, rising 0.2% in March versus forecasts of 0.3% and February's 0.2%. Year-over-year core CPI rose 2.6% versus forecasts of 2.7% and February's 2.5%.

Trading in a tight range around the $72,000 level in the hours ahead of the news, the price of bitcoin rose to $72,400 in the moments following the report.

Amid the war in Iran and the resulting surge in oil prices, markets over the past weeks have shifted from pricing in a series of Fed rate cuts this year to pricing in one or more rate hikes, and now expect no change in U.S. central bank monetary policy.

Ahead of this morning's data, there was about a 99% chance the Fed would stay on hold at its late-April meeting and a 97% chance of the same at the mid-June meeting, according to CME FedWatch.

$ADA trades at $0.2527 on April 10, up 0.5%, holding the 0.236 Fib at $0.2475 while the SAR and Supertrend flip bullish on the 4H for the first time since the March channel began.

The descending channel from the March 17 high at $0.2951 remains intact. Price sits between the 0.236 Fib at $0.2475 and the 0.382 Fib at $0.2566, holding support but not yet reclaiming the next level.

The SAR at $0.2465 and Supertrend at $0.2449 have both flipped bullish on the 4H, sitting just below current price as support. A 4H close back below $0.2465 flips the SAR bearish again and puts the 0.236 Fib under immediate pressure. The channel’s upper boundary and the 0.618 Fib at $0.2639 converge as the same resistance zone to clear for any real recovery.

XRP Transactions Explode Past 2-Year High of 5M


The $XRP Ledger recently handled a sharp rise in transaction activity but consistently maintained low fees and fast settlement times.

XRPL Validator Vet reported that the network processed this large wave of transactions at costs of just a few cents, with consistent settlement speeds of three to four seconds. As a result, he called the XRPL “financial infrastructure that scales.”

The $XRP Ledger processed over 5.17 million transactions in one day, marking a two-year high.

The network maintained low fees and steady settlement times during the surge.

Throughput stayed above 140 TPS, with some blocks processing up to 987 transactions.

Most activity came from the $XRP/$RLUSD pair on the DEX.

Transaction activity peaked in the afternoon with hourly volumes exceeding 300,000 before slowing by the end of the day.

Surge in XRPL Network Activity

Vet highlighted the latest milestone amid an impressive surge in XRPL on-chain activity throughout this year. He noted that the network maintained throughput above 140 transactions per second during this period. Meanwhile, some individual ledger blocks processed as many as 987 transactions.

Vet pointed out that the $XRP decentralized exchange (DEX) was the main driver behind the spike, especially through the $XRP/$RLUSD trading pair. He explained that most of the activity came from this pair, with automated bots contributing to the increase in transaction volume.

Bot Activity on the XRPL

According to him, market-making bots constantly filled the order book with buy and sell offers. They repeatedly created and canceled orders using the same OfferSequence, and adjusted prices in real time. This added heavily to the total number of transactions recorded on the network.

TAO extends losses as Bittensor faces growing structural scrutiny

The 2026 cycle has increasingly challenged the notion that AI is merely another hype-driven narrative. 

Instead, market data suggests that capital rotation toward AI-focused projects remains structurally strong.

From a technical standpoint, Bitcoin [BTC]

recorded only a modest 2.14% increase in monthly market cap. In contrast, the AI token sector has shown significantly stronger expansion.

According to CoinMarketCap data, the combined market cap of AI-related tokens climbed nearly 13%, while trading volume surged close to 70% over the same period.

TAO’s quarterly performance reinforces this trend, with the AI token rallying nearly 40%, while Bitcoin posted a 22.04% Q1 decline. In this context, the recent pullback in TAO highlights emerging structural weakness.

Following Covenant AI’s exit from Bittensor, TAO extended intraday losses by 13.3%, bringing total losses to nearly 25% within 72 hours of trading.

As a result, much of the earlier bullish momentum, including the $43 million Q1 revenue narrative and Grayscale ETF filing optimism, has been largely unwound.

According to AMBCrypto, this is where the AI narrative comes into play. As noted earlier, recent capital flows into AI tokens, including TAO, continue to signal strong investor interest in AI-focused decentralized projects and the broader shift toward AI-driven crypto infrastructure.

However, Covenant AI’s exit from Bittensor has clearly challenged this narrative.  From a technical standpoint, this makes TAO’s weakness appear less like a short-term shakeout and more like a structural concern.

Thus, the recent drawdown could mark the beginning of a deeper downside trend for TAO.
