The upgrade aims to secure more than $700 million in wrapped Bitcoin assets tied to SolvBTC and xSolvBTC, according to Solv. The move means that Chainlink CCIP will become the protocol’s default cross-chain communication layer on all supported networks.

Built by Solv Protocol, SolvBTC gives Bitcoin holders access to DeFi opportunities without giving up direct $BTC exposure. The protocol also supports cross-chain interoperability and institutional-style Bitcoin yield products through its BTCFi infrastructure.

Solv said repeated bridge-related hacks across the crypto industry reinforced the need for stronger security assurances and lower systemic risk, leading the team to standardize on Chainlink’s infrastructure.

The decision to adopt Chainlink CCIP was driven by its strong security guarantees, decentralized architecture, and growing recognition as one of the most reliable interoperability solutions in the blockchain industry, as noted by the team.

Coinbase Global Inc. (Nasdaq: COIN) reported on May 7 that its first-quarter performance reflected stronger participation across spot trading, derivatives, stablecoins, and on-chain products. The crypto firm posted $202 billion in quarterly trading volume, $294 billion in assets held on platform, and a workforce of more than 4,900 employees.

Retail and institutional participation accelerated during the quarter. “Coinbase crypto trading volume market share increased to 8.6%, a new all-time high driven by product innovation and derivatives growth,” the crypto firm noted, adding that derivatives have become a larger part of its trading business, with trailing-12-month volume up 169% from the prior year. Retail derivatives also reached an annualized revenue run rate above $200 million, while prediction markets crossed $100 million in annualized revenue less than two months after launch. Brad Garlinghouse Explains What CLARITY Act Means For Ripple and XRP

The CLARITY Act passing would be good for crypto and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse believes that. Garlinghouse said Ripple has actively leaned into supporting the CLARITY Act.

“If we want the largest economy in the world, the United States, to lean into crypto in the way that helps, it’s good for Ripple if that happens,” he said. “But XRP has clarity.”

The distinction matters. Ripple is not lobbying for the CLARITY Act because it needs it. It is supporting it because the broader crypto industry does, and because a healthy US crypto regulatory environment is ultimately good for everyone operating in the space, including Ripple.

Garlinghouse also pointed to a concern he hears repeatedly from bank CEOs and senior financial executives. They are nervous. Not about XRP specifically, but about what happens when the current regulatory leadership changes. Paul Atkins is at the SEC today. But guidance is not law, and guidance can change the moment a new administration arrives.

“If you’re a big financial institution that’s had to deal with an SEC that has fined them billions of dollars, they don’t want to take a chance,” he said.

That institutional nervousness, Garlinghouse argued, is exactly why the CLARITY Act matters. Legislation creates permanence that guidance never can. Without it, major banks will remain cautious no matter how friendly today’s regulators appear.

Cryptoquant, an on-chain and market data analytics firm, shared analysis on X on May 7, outlining the price levels bitcoin may need to reclaim before traders can confirm a market bottom. $BTC traded near $80,874 while remaining below several realized price bands tied to underwater holder groups. The analysis focused on how those resistance levels could determine whether recent recovery attempts develop into a sustained reversal.

The chart in the analysis mapped Bitcoin UTXO age bands against realized price levels for different holder cohorts. It identified the 3-month to 6-month realized price near $88,879 as the first line of overhead supply above spot price. Another resistance wall appeared near $93,446 for the 12-month to 18-month cohort. The heaviest concentration came from the 6-month to 12-month band near $111,851, which remained roughly 29% above $BTC spot price at the time of the study. The analysis stated:

The product addresses a bottleneck that has become more visible as AI agents move from passive assistants to autonomous software operators. Even when an agent can search, code, query data and execute tasks, access to premium APIs still typically requires a human to create accounts, manage billing, handle credentials and maintain subscriptions. Pay.sh attempts to collapse that process into a wallet-based payment flow.

“Agents can now instantly discover, access, and pay-per-request for any API autonomously, for the first time supporting APIs from Google Cloud including Gemini, BigQuery, Vertex AI, and more using stablecoins on Solana,” the Solana Foundation said in its announcement. “No accounts. No API keys. No subscriptions needed.”

Pay.sh begins with a Solana wallet connected to an AI interface, including Gemini, Claude Code, Codex, Openclaw and Hermes, according to the announcement. Developers can fund the wallet with a credit card or stablecoin, after which an agent can browse a unified marketplace of API endpoints, receive live pricing and pay directly from its balance.

The core design is simple: the payment functions as the credential. Rather than requiring every API provider to establish a direct billing relationship with each user or agent, Pay.sh acts as a gateway layer between agents and service providers.
