A closely watched on-chain metric suggests that Bitcoin may still have one final leg lower before the current cycle bottoms.

According to an Alpha AI analysis, the Holder Price has fallen below the Long-Term Holder Realized Price. Historically, this crossover indicates that newer, more speculative capital has accepted lower prices than long-term holders paid, reflecting fading demand after distribution phases.

The move typically signals a loss of broad investor confidence, with control passing from short-term participants to conviction holders who sell far less near their cost basis. Rather than a panic bottom, it signals a transitional phase of capital rotation and accumulation.

Price often drifts or declines into an intermediate range as weaker hands exit and stronger ones absorb supply, compressing upside until fresh demand emerges. The pattern aligns with mid-cycle resets rather than final lows, setting the stage for eventual recovery once the Investor Price reclaims the Long-Term Holder level.

That said, Bitcoin has reclaimed the Traders’ Lower Realized Price near $69,400 following the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, turning weeks of resistance into support. A hold here could open the way to the $79,000 bear-market ceiling and test the structural recovery.

Meanwhile, the token remains inside a massive supply cluster between $73,200 and $63,111, where millions of holders bought in and are psychologically incentivized to defend their positions.

The combination suggests near-term volatility is far from over. While the on-chain crossover warns of one last washout before sustained accumulation, the fresh breakout above key realized-price support keeps the door open for a relief bounce, provided the ceasefire holds, and macro conditions do not deteriorate further.

Bitcoin (BTC) developers have announced the release of v31.0rc4 for testing. As highlighted by Bitcoin Core Project on X, this major release follows v30.2 and comes with binaries and draft notes available for review by developers, node operators and testers.

The announcement targets Bitcoin researchers, miners and wallet infrastructure providers as a major change has been introduced in the cluster mempool design. For clarity, the mempool is like a waiting room where transactions sit before miners include them in blocks.

In this redesign, there is improvement in transaction selection for blocks, fee efficiency and the handling of complex transaction packages. Rather than impose limits, the new system organizes transactions into clusters.

It comes with a default limit of 64 transactions per cluster and 101 kB size. The idea is to help the node make better decisions when prioritizing transactions by fees. Additionally, the update allows a user to replace a pending transaction with a higher-fee version. This will ensure that a replacement improves the mempool’s overall fee structure

Dollar-denominated open interest for both assets reached levels not seen in nearly a month.
Bitcoin (Bitcoin) rose roughly 4% and Ethereum (Ethereum) gained approximately 6% within 24 hours of President Donald Trump's announcement of a two-week ceasefire late Tuesday, marking the strongest single-day move for both assets in over a month. CryptoQuant said the rally was driven by new long positions in perpetual futures markets, not by short liquidations.

Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant, said in a Thursday report that open interest in Bitcoin perpetual futures rose by $2.1 billion and open interest in Ethereum perpetual futures climbed by $2.2 billion within the 24 hours following the ceasefire announcement. Dollar-denominated open interest for both assets reached levels not seen in nearly a month.

"This synchronized surge across both major assets reflects macro-event-driven positioning, with traders front-running an anticipated improvement in broader risk sentiment," Moreno wrote. He noted that coin-denominated open interest also increased for both assets, ruling out short liquidations as the primary cause and confirming that traders were establishing net new long positions.

The directional conviction was also visible in spot perpetual markets. The taker buy-sell ratio for both BTC and ETH moved above 1 during the same period, indicating dominant buying activity. The Coinbase Premium Index, which had remained negative for both assets over several weeks, turned positive, pointing to a pickup in demand from U.S.-based investors.

Moreno said that if the ceasefire holds and no new escalatory developments emerge, the Coinbase premium could sustain positive territory and reinforce the upward price trajectory.
