Ethereum has moved higher with the broader crypto market this week, but its rebound is now facing a technical test that may decide whether the move has real strength or only a reflection of Bitcoin’s momentum.

A recent technical outlook points to a shortfall on the ETH daily candlestick chart, as the price continues to stall below the upper end of its rising channel despite repeated attempts to extend the rally.

Ethereum’s Rally Is Showing A Shortfall

Technical analysis of the Ethereum daily candlestick timeframe chart shows that Ethereum has been trading inside a rising channel since February 2026. This is a structure that, in theory, should allow bulls to progressively push the price toward its upper boundary.

The structure has produced a sequence of higher lows, which is usually a good sign. However, the problem is that ETH has not matched that strength on the upper side of the pattern, at least in May.

According to a crypto analyst that goes by the name Ardi on the social media platform X, the channel’s upper boundary currently is around $2,520, but ETH’s recent advances have repeatedly stalled around $2,420. That leaves the price about 6% below the channel high, creating a shortfall.

The daily structure is also not fully bullish. While ETH has reclaimed its short- and medium-term moving averages, the 200-day EMA is still above the current price, meaning the recovery is still incomplete.

The concern becomes more serious because Bitcoin has already achieved what Ethereum has not. The Bitcoin price has reached the upper side of its own channel structure to create a higher high around $81,000, meaning Bitcoin has been leading the market rally more cleanly.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Sports betting should be regulated as a federal financial product rather than a state-licensed casino product, two panelists said Thursday.

Appearing at Consensus Miami 2026, Jacob Fortinsky, co-founder and CEO of sports betting platform Novig, said the legacy sportsbook model is structurally broken because it treats winning bettors as cheaters.

"Sports betting is really the only industry in the country that regularly limits and bans their power users," Fortinsky said. He framed sports event contracts as binary financial instruments that "for so long have been treated as a gambling product and instead should really be treated as a financial product." Globally, he said, sports betting is "a $2 trillion asset class still dominated by these legacy casinos."

Adam Mastrelli, founder of 57 Maiden, a firm that builds AI-driven trading strategies for prediction markets, validated the critique with personal experience.

"My partner and I got kicked off of two big sportsbooks within two months of trading because we were sharp," he said, It's like "LeBron James getting kicked out of the NBA for being too good," he added.

Mastrelli said the team turned to Novig, which he said charges no fees and allows traders to create synthetic positions.

Mastrelli said his firm's edge decayed quickly, and of 154 proposed trading strategies, only three currently run profitably.

"This edge will go away," he said, "so if you can build systems that can keep up with that edge and that alpha… then it becomes really, really intriguing." His most profitable season, he said, was the WNBA.

Chatbots trained to sound warmer made between 10% and 30% more mistakes on topics including medical advice and conspiracy corrections. They were also about 40% more likely to agree with users' false beliefs, particularly when users expressed vulnerability. "When we train Al chatbots to prioritise warmth, they might make mistakes they otherwise wouldn't," lead author Lujain Ibrahim said in a statement. "Making a chatbot sound friendlier might seem like a cosmetic change, but getting warmth and accuracy right will take deliberate effort." Bitcoin scam: ED arrests hacker Sriki, two others
Stepping up the investigation following recent raids, officials of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Saturday arrested prime accused in the Bitcoin scam case, Srikrishna alias Sriki, along with two others in Bengaluru.
The ED arrested Sriki, Robin Khandeval and Sunish Hegde in connection with the alleged cryptocurrency scam. The trio was produced before a special ED court, and taken into custody for 10 days for further interrogation.

The central agency has been probing the alleged Bitcoin scam for the past several years over accusations of illegal cryptocurrency transactions, hacking and financial irregularities.
As part of the ongoing investigation, ED officials had recently conducted searches at multiple locations linked to the accused and their associates.

The case had earlier sparked major political controversy in Karnataka, with allegations surrounding the handling of seized bitcoins and the possible involvement of influential persons.

On April 20, the agency carried out raids at 12 locations, including premises allegedly linked to Sriki, the sons of Shantinagar MLA N.A. Haris,  Mohammed Haris Nalapad and Omar Farook Nalapad, and Mohammed Hakeeb Khan, the grandson of former Union Minister K. Rehman Khan.

The case is related to a 2017 hacking incident involving national and international websites, in which bitcoins were allegedly stolen by Sriki and his associates. Mohammed Haris and Omar Farook are allegedly suspected to be beneficiaries of the proceeds of crime. Investigators believe that bitcoins hacked from a Dubai-based crypto exchange were routed to the Nalapads, with the ED tracking the digital trail.

The ED also raided the residence of Mohammed Hakeeb Khan. Officials alleged there were suspicious money transfers through his bank accounts, prompting the searches.

What Drove Coinbase To A Loss
The single largest drag on the quarter was $482 million in unrealized losses on crypto assets held for investment, tied primarily to Bitcoin’s roughly 23% decline during Q1, a separate report from TheStreet crypto claims. Strip out that mark-to-market impact and the adjusted net loss narrows to $46 million — a meaningful distinction, but one that still reflects a materially weaker operating environment than the prior year.

Transaction revenue, the exchange’s primary revenue engine, came in at $755.8 million — down 23% quarter-over-quarter and below the $805.2 million analysts had projected. The main driver was straightforward: total crypto market capitalization and spot trading volumes declined more than 20% quarter-over-quarter, per Investing.com, pulling Coinbase’s most volatile revenue line with it.
