XRPL targets DeFi expansion with lending and programmable escrow tools

The $XRP Ledger ecosystem is preparing two major upgrades aimed at expanding XRPL beyond payments and settlement.

XRPL Foundation Community Director Hussain Zangana, known online as Vet, shared details about the planned additions through recent posts on X.

According to Zangana, the roadmap includes a native decentralized lending protocol and a programmable escrow system designed to support advanced financial activity directly on XRPL. The updates are expected to build a broader on-chain credit infrastructure while keeping XRPL’s low-cost transaction model intact.

Native lending system targets on-chain credit markets

The planned lending protocol would allow liquidity pools and fixed-term crypto loans to operate directly on XRPL without intermediaries. The system is expected to support both retail and institutional use cases.

Zangana said the goal is to expand XRPL into a decentralized credit hub while using $XRP as a cross-chain liquidity bridge. “This turns XRPL into a decentralized credit ecosystem” remains a forward-looking claim because the features have not yet launched publicly.

The proposed framework follows growing interest in tokenized finance and on-chain lending systems across major blockchain networks. XRPL’s approach focuses on adding these features at the protocol level instead of relying fully on external smart contract platforms.

Manhattan federal judge has cleared the way for Aave’s recovery effort to move forward after last month’s North Korea-linked rsETH exploit, allowing $71 million in frozen ether to be transferred out of Arbitrum while preserving North Korean terrorism victims’ legal claim on the funds.

In a two-page order published late Friday U.S. time, Judge Margaret Garnett modified a restraining notice previously served on Arbitrum DAO to allow an onchain governance vote transferring the immobilized ETH to a wallet controlled by Aave LLC.

The order also shields participants from liability under the notice, stating that anyone who initiates, votes on or participates in the transfer would not violate the freeze.

Judge Garnett's ruling follows an earlier off-chain Snapshot temperature check in which Arbitrum delegates overwhelmingly signaled support for returning the frozen ETH as part of Aave’s broader recovery plan. Any actual transfer, however, still requires a separate binding onchain governance vote.

Selling pressure steadily faded after Sei [SEI] established a firm floor between the $0.050 and $0.052 range during early April. A rounding bottom gradually formed afterward, signaling buyers were slowly absorbing weakening sell-side liquidity beneath the surface.

Momentum strengthened further once the $0.0563 resistance flipped into support, which later became the launchpad for the breakout.

Before the expansion, price briefly dipped below the $0.055 support zone, likely sweeping weaker positions and unlocking liquidity for continuation higher.

Despite recent recovery attempts, analysts continue warning that BTC could still experience deeper pullbacks before confirming a stronger bullish continuation.

Several market indicators suggest Bitcoin remains in a fragile position after repeated rejections near key resistance zones around $82K–$85K. Traders are closely watching whether buyers can maintain momentum or if another wave of profit-taking will push prices lower in the short term.

Some analysts believe the current market structure resembles a temporary relief rally rather than the start of a full breakout. Concerns over inflation, Federal Reserve policy, geopolitical uncertainty, and weaker risk appetite continue to create pressure across crypto markets.

At the same time, institutional demand and spot Bitcoin ETF inflows are helping support the broader long-term outlook. Bitcoin has already recovered significantly from its yearly lows, showing resilience even during periods of heavy volatility.

Technical analysts now see the $72K–$75K region as a major support area if selling pressure increases again, while a successful breakout above $85K could open the path toward higher resistance levels in the coming weeks.

For now, traders remain cautious as the market waits for confirmation on whether Bitcoin’s latest recovery is sustainable or simply another temporary bounce before a larger correction.

ARK Invest projects that artificial intelligence (AI) agents could facilitate $8 trillion in online consumer spending by 2030.

The projection highlights the growing opportunity in AI-driven commerce as major firms compete to build the infrastructure powering autonomous digital transactions.

In its latest Big Ideas 2026 report, ARK Invest forecasts that AI agents could account for a growing portion of online transactions. The share could rise from 2% of digital spending in 2025 to nearly 25% by 2030 as consumers increasingly rely on intelligent systems to make purchasing decisions.
The report also projected strong growth across other AI-driven segments. According to ARK Invest, AI-powered search could grow from 10% of global search traffic in 2025 to 65% by 2030.

“AI-related search advertising increases ~50% at an annual rate. AI ads are likely to take share from traditional search advertising, with monetization likely to follow with a two-year lag,” the report read.

The report further estimated that AI-mediated consumer revenue could surge from around $20 billion today to nearly $900 billion by 2030. This represents a compound annual growth rate of 105%.
