The Trump administration has asked a U.S. federal court to temporarily pause a recent ruling that challenged the legality of the administration’s 10% global tariff policy while the government continues its appeal process. The request comes after the U.S. trade court ruled against the tariffs on May 8, creating uncertainty around the future of the import duties.Although the court ruled against the tariff policy, it did not fully stop the government from collecting the tariffs nationwide. Instead, the decision mainly affected three importers that filed lawsuits against the administration over the trade measures. If the court grants the administration’s request for a pause, the tariffs would once again apply to those companies during the appeal proceedings.The Trump administration officially filed its appeal on Friday, arguing that the tariffs were legally implemented under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. The measure gives the president temporary authority to address trade imbalances and protect U.S. economic interests through import restrictions and tariff actions.The 10% global tariffs were originally introduced in February after the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated most of the broader tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump in 2025. Following that decision, the administration moved forward with a narrower tariff strategy targeting imported goods from multiple countries.The current tariffs are scheduled to expire in July unless Congress approves an extension. Ethereum’s recent rally may be starting to run out of steam.
After briefly pushing toward the $2,400 region, ETH has struggled to maintain momentum, and several technical signals are now raising concerns that a deeper pullback could be ahead.
One of the biggest warning signs appearing on the chart is a bearish RSI divergence.
In simple terms: Ethereum’s price continued making slightly higher highs, but the RSI indicator kept making lower highs — a classic sign that buying momentum is weakening beneath the surface.
At the same time, the MACD has also turned bearish after a negative crossover, suggesting downside pressure may slowly be building.
If selling accelerates from here, Ethereum could retest the critical $2,200 support zone. And if that level breaks, traders may begin watching the psychological $2,000 area next.
What makes the situation interesting, however, is that whales are still buying.
On-chain data shows large Ethereum wallets accumulated roughly 360,000 ETH during the recent correction, signaling that major holders haven’t fully abandoned the market.
But there’s also a noticeable shift happening: Institutional buying appears to be slowing.
Bitmine, one of the larger ETH accumulators, has reportedly reduced its buying pace after already reaching around 86% of its long-term target.
In other words, the market seems to be transitioning from aggressive accumulation to cautious observation.
Still, not everyone is bearish.
Fundstrat’s Tom Lee recently said: “Crypto Spring has commenced.”
That’s why Ethereum is now sitting at a very important crossroads:
• Reclaim $2,400, and bulls could reopen the path toward $2,600
• Lose $2,200, and market sentiment could deteriorate quickly
And for many investors, these uncertain periods are often more psychologically difficult than the crashes themselves.

The liquidations

A long position is a bet on the price of an asset going up, while a short position is a bet on it going down.

To prevent any excessive losses from eroding the entire invested capital and generating further losses (which would create a debt), such positions are automatically closed by the platforms before the capital is completely eroded, in case of such risks.

When Strategy (MSTR), the largest publicly traded company holding bitcoin, first floated the idea of selling its bitcoin stash to fund its dividend obligations during its recent earnings call, it raised concerns among investors and the crypto community.

However, executive chairman Michael Saylor sat down with CoinDesk senior analyst James Van Straten at Consensus in Miami to explain, in his view,why the announcement was "inconsequential."

As the firm expands from a bitcoin treasury company into a full-spectrum capital markets operation, in a wide-ranging conversation with CoinDesk, Saylor discussed the company's potential sale of bitcoin to fund dividends, the mechanics of its preferred stock (called Stretch or STRC), and what critics get wrong about its trading strategy.

Michael Saylor: It's a big nothing burger from an economic point of view. If we were to fund all of our dividends exclusively by selling bitcoin over the next year, we would buy 20 bitcoin for every one we sold. So it's no different than buying 20 bitcoin and selling no bitcoin. And then from a market point of view, bitcoin has somewhere between $20 and $50 billion of liquidity today. If we were to fund all of our dividends with bitcoin, you would be talking about maybe $3 million; it's immeasurable. It's really inconsequential.Saylor: We use two metrics. The first is $BTC yield. What's the benefit to the common equity shareholder? If there's no yield, it's equity neutral. If there's a negative yield, it's dilutive. If there's a positive yield, it's accretive. The second metric is credit: what is the impact on the balance sheet? Does it create more risk?
