The tokenized commodities market has grown to $7 billion, up nearly 600% from the start of 2025. Jesse Knutson, Head of Operations, Bitfinex Securities, wrote that the rising tokenized commodities adoption isn’t just about new demand.

It is helping morph commodities into mobile, flexible assets that enable “responsive risk management” in the increasingly volatile geopolitical climate, he wrote in mid-April.

Tether Gold [XAU₮] accounts for nearly 40% of the tokenized gold market. The tokenized commodity adoption is greater among assets that investors trust more, such as gold.

Notcoin [$NOT] has surged over 21% in the past day at press time, but the rally is drawing skepticism, with key indicators and declining market sentiment raising questions about whether the move can sustain itself.

Community sentiment, which reflects investor conviction in an asset’s direction, fell even as price climbed, widening the gap between price action and the confidence typically needed to back it.

Notcoin’s rally carries real risk

The surge broke 89 days of range-bound trading that began in February, with a two-day consecutive bullish candle formation triggering the breakout, but the indicators behind the move tell a more cautious story.

The Accumulation/Distribution (A/D) indicator spiked within the 24-hour window, reflecting strong buying pressure on the surface. It remained in negative territory throughout, however, signaling that sell-side traders still hold a structural advantage in the market.

At the time of writing, Notcoin’s total volume sat at 6.2 billion, offering little additional weight to the bullish case.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) compounded the concern, as it crossed above the 70 threshold into overvalued territory. At that level, the indicator typically reflects buyer exhaustion, and a price pullback becomes increasingly probable.

Notcoin’s perpetual market tells the real story

The strongest case for a bull trap comes from the perpetual market, where capital positioning and liquidation data both lean bearish.

CoinGlass data shows the OI-Weighted Funding Rate has turned negative again, and sharply.

At press time, the rate dropped to roughly -0.0676%, indicating that the majority of capital in the perpetual market is held by short traders positioning for a price decline. It stands as the second steepest negative funding reading

An $XRP maximalist, or “$XRP maxi,” is a person who thinks $XRP is the only important crypto in the industry. They want $XRP to win and all others to lose, so they treat the market like a competition.

Garlinghouse said he thinks differently.

“I’ve never been an $XRP maxi. It’s not gonna be a one-chain world. It’s gonna be a multi-chain world. I want to see Bitcoin be successful,” he said, adding that crypto tribalism is bad for everyone and the whole industry.

In January 2025, Garlinghouse posted on X, saying maximalism is “the enemy of crypto progress” and that he owns $XRP, Bitcoin, and Ethereum, because he supports a level playing field.

He did make clear that $XRP remains Ripple’s “North Star” and that every acquisition and new product aims to make the token more useful for the people.According to a Ripple survey of more than 1,000 finance leaders worldwide, 72% said companies must now offer digital asset solutions to remain competitive.

74% of the interviewees also said stablecoins are the future treasury tool that companies can use to manage money more efficiently.

The survey also showed that 97% of finance leaders prioritize the security of digital assets over all other features, with certifications such as ISO and SOC being highly important.

88% ranked Post-integration technical support second, 80% said Industry experience came third, and 71% said they prefer an all-in-one service provider.

The survey also found that 31% of fintechs collect payments

The Nasdaq‑listed firm intends to shed its legacy media operations, erase roughly $48 million of debt and pursue a rebrand as Talivar Technologies as it chases stronger margins in data centers and GPU compute.

On Monday, K Wave said its board approved the sale of Play Co., its largest wholly owned subsidiary, back to the unit’s previous owner, a transaction expected to remove about $48 million in debt and related contingent liabilities if shareholders sign off at an annual meeting planned for early July. 

Management said the move will leave the company with “minimal remaining liabilities” and far greater flexibility to deploy capital into new lines of business.

That capital will come from an amended securities purchase agreement with Anson Funds, a structured equity financier that last year committed up to $500 million to support a bitcoin treasury strategy at the company. 

Under the revised deal, K Wave can now direct the remaining $485 million from future share sales under the facility into AI infrastructure, including data center build‑outs, GPU compute and rental operations, and acquisitions or partnerships across what it calls the AI infrastructure value chain
