Ad Disclosure ECB President Christine Lagarde has pushed back against the idea that Europe should answer dollar crypto stablecoin dominance by promoting euro-denominated stablecoins of its own, arguing instead that the region should build tokenised financial infrastructure anchored in central bank money.In a speech at the Banco de España LatAm Economic Forum in Roda de Bará, Spain, Lagarde framed stablecoins as one of the fastest-moving policy questions in global finance. The market, she said, has grown from less than $10 billion six years ago to more than $300 billion today, with close to 98% of stablecoins denominated in US dollars and nearly 90% controlled by Tether and Circle. Lagarde: ECB Must Not Copy US Crypto Stablecoin ModelThat concentration has turned crypto stablecoins into more than a crypto-market instrument. In Lagarde’s view, they now sit at the intersection of monetary power, financial stability and tokenised-market infrastructure.“The growing argument is that to remain relevant, Europe must respond by promoting euro-denominated stablecoins of its own,” Lagarde said. “Otherwise, it faces a future of digital dollaritation and a loss of monetary sovereignty.”But she argued that this framing misses the central issue. Stablecoins, according to Lagarde, perform two separate functions that are often conflated: a monetary function, by extending the reach of a currency, and a technological function, by acting as the cash leg for settlement on distributed ledger infrastructure. Nvidia is bringing in a heavyweight from the world of finance to bolster its boardroom. The company announced the appointment of Suzanne Nora Johnson to its board of directors, effective July 13, 2026, expanding the board from 10 to 11 members.

Johnson, a former Vice Chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group, will also join Nvidia’s Audit Committee. For a company that has become the gravitational center of the AI hardware universe, adding someone with over two decades of senior-level finance and governance experience is a deliberate move to match its corporate oversight with the scale of its ambitions.

Who is Suzanne Nora Johnson?
Johnson’s resume reads like a greatest-hits compilation of elite American institutions. She holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from the University of Southern California. Her most prominent role was as Vice Chairman at Goldman Sachs, one of the most powerful positions in global finance.

Her placement on the Audit Committee is telling. That’s the board subgroup responsible for overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.

Johnson’s compensation package for the role includes an initial restricted stock unit grant valued at $255K, along with an $85K annual cash retainer.

Why Nvidia is strengthening its board now
Expanding the board from 10 to 11 members is a modest numerical change. But the choice of who fills that seat tells you what Nvidia thinks it needs. Not another technologist. Not another Silicon Valley insider. A finance and governance veteran who has operated at the highest levels of Wall Street.

The July 13 effective date gives both Johnson and the existing board time to prepare for a smooth integration.

Data shows the $XRP blockchain has seen a steep drop in metrics related to activity and adoption, indicating that the earlier speculative wave has faded.In a new post on X, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode has talked about the latest trends in the new addresses and monthly active supply of $XRP. The former metric is a measure of the daily total number of wallets coming online on the blockchain for the first time, while the latter tracks the amount of the cryptocurrency’s supply that became involved in at least one transaction over the past month.

First, here is a chart that shows how the number of new addresses has fluctuated on the $XRP network over the last few years:

As displayed in the above graph, the 7-day average number of new addresses popping up on the $XRP network shot up to a peak in late 2024. This massive spike in the metric appeared alongside a sharp bull rally for the cryptocurrency. Thus, it would appear that the bullish momentum was accompanied by a surge in adoption.

From the chart, it’s visible that what followed the explosive influx of new investors was a significant cooldown in the metric during 2025. Adoption still saw some spikes, but they were of a notably lower level than the December 2024 high.

In 2026, the decline in the indicator has only furthered. Today, there are just 2,700 new addresses joining the network every day. This reflects a drop of 85% compared to the December 2024 peak, when the metric reached a value of 18,000.

Adoption isn’t the only metric that has slowed down for $XRP. As the data of the other indicator shared by Glassnode shows, the 7-day average value of the monthly active supply has also plummeted.

Dogecoin continues to prove it is far more than just a meme. According to CoinGecko, $DOGE’s market capitalization has now grown to more than 8x the size of the entire $NFT market, highlighting just how dominant the original memecoin remains in the crypto space.

At the time of writing, Dogecoin is trading at around $0.106, down roughly 4% over the past 24 hours as the broader crypto market experiences volatility. Despite the short-term pullback, $DOGE still holds a market cap near $26 billion, massively overshadowing the struggling $NFT sector.

Fresh on-chain data from Santiment shows massive whale activity behind Dogecoin’s recent momentum. The analytics firm revealed that $DOGE whales recorded 739 transactions worth over $100,000 within a single day, the highest whale activity level in six months.

Santiment also noted that the 149 largest wallets holding at least 100 million $DOGE now collectively control an all-time high of 108.52 billion $DOGE, worth around $11.6 billion. According to the platform, this aggressive accumulation likely played a key role in $DOGE’s recent 14% rally over the last 10 days.

On-chain analyst Ali Martinez recently pointed out that Dogecoin successfully hit its $0.117 target after breaking through a major channel resistance. Following the move, he confirmed profits had been booked, signaling that traders may now be entering a cooling phase after the breakout.
