The first proposed fund, called the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle is a Treasury-backed money market fund built for blockchain-based ownership and transfers. It will invest in ultra-short-term US government securities and repo agreements while issuing onchain shares held through approved crypto wallets.

Designed for the stablecoin ecosystem, BlackRock intends the vehicle to qualify as an eligible reserve asset under the GENIUS Act, the US law establishing a framework for payment stablecoins.

There is a period of pause developing in the entire crypto market. Bitcoin is a digital currency whose market capitalisation is at $1.55 trillion, while the amount in circulation is 20.02 million BTC. The coin still remains halted regarding price movement with no clear breakout. Despite being the leading coin in the crypto sector, it has still failed to generate any momentum.

The same applies to Ethereum as well. Ethereum currently holds a market cap of $281.7 billion and a circulation of 120.68 million ETH. Its recent performance has been similar to that of Bitcoin, as it has been underperforming.

Ethereum has moved higher with the broader crypto market this week, but its rebound is now facing a technical test that may decide whether the move has real strength or only a reflection of Bitcoin’s momentum.

A recent technical outlook points to a shortfall on the ETH daily candlestick chart, as the price continues to stall below the upper end of its rising channel despite repeated attempts to extend the rally.

Ethereum’s Rally Is Showing A Shortfall
Technical analysis of the Ethereum daily candlestick timeframe chart shows that Ethereum has been trading inside a rising channel since February 2026. This is a structure that, in theory, should allow bulls to progressively push the price toward its upper boundary.

The structure has produced a sequence of higher lows, which is usually a good sign. However, the problem is that ETH has not matched that strength on the upper side of the pattern, at least in May.

According to a crypto analyst that goes by the name Ardi on the social media platform X, the channel’s upper boundary currently is around $2,520, but ETH’s recent advances have repeatedly stalled around $2,420. That leaves the price about 6% below the channel high, creating a shortfall.

The daily structure is also not fully bullish. While ETH has reclaimed its short- and medium-term moving averages, the 200-day EMA is still above the current price, meaning the recovery is still incomplete.

The concern becomes more serious because Bitcoin has already achieved what Ethereum has not. The Bitcoin price has reached the upper side of its own channel structure to create a higher high around $81,000, meaning Bitcoin has been leading the market rally more cleanly.

Boston Fed president Collins warns Iran conflict energy shocks could keep rates elevated, pressuring crypto
Susan Collins, president of the Boston Federal Reserve, used a May 7 appearance on Bloomberg’s “Big Take” podcast to deliver a message crypto investors probably didn’t want to hear: interest rates aren’t going anywhere.

Collins pointed to energy shocks stemming from the Iran conflict as a major force keeping inflation stubbornly above the Fed’s 2% target. Her prescription was blunt. Hold rates steady. No cuts on the horizon.

The inflation problem that won’t quit

Collins warned that the Iran conflict-induced disruptions could triple inflation estimates compared to just 30 days ago.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell flagged similar inflation risks tied to the Iran conflict in posts on X dated April 21 and May 8, reinforcing the broader Fed narrative that caution, not accommodation, is the order of the day.

What this means for Bitcoin and crypto

Bitcoin climbed 2.6% to $80,139 on May 4 as markets began pricing in stagflation risks from extended supply disruptions.

Analysts are now predicting a possible 25-30% drop in $BTC if inflation continues to escalate. That would put Bitcoin somewhere in the low $56K to $60K range from current levels. During the 2022 tightening cycle, $BTC fell from $69K to below $16K as the Fed marched rates higher.

The US Treasury seized $500 million in crypto assets linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in early May as part of intensified sanctions. That seizure contributed to a 60-70% devaluation of Iran’s currency.

Crypto activists attempting to compel the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to include Bitcoin in its reserves failed to gather the necessary signatures for a referendum, reports Reuters.

Under Swiss law, 100,000 signatures were required within 18 months to bring the initiative to a national vote. However, the activists managed to collect only about half of the required number with just weeks remaining before the deadline.

"We knew from the start that it was a long shot. For now, we will let the initiative lapse, but progress towards the goal has been made," said campaign founder Yves Bennaim.
