Pavel Durov, co-founder of Telegram, has warned that push notifications may represent an overlooked but serious privacy vulnerability, potentially allowing sensitive data to be recovered even after messages are deleted or messaging apps are removed from a device.
Citing a report originally published by 404 Media, Durov highlighted claims that the FBI was able to retrieve deleted Signal messages by accessing locally stored notification logs on an Apple iPhone. This suggests that in some cases, data exposure may occur not by breaking end-to-end encryption, but through device-level notification storage.
Durov emphasized that disabling notification previews does not fully eliminate the risk, since users cannot control the privacy settings of the people they communicate with. This creates a weak link in the communication chain where sensitive information may still be exposed.
The reports raise broader concerns that metadata and notification caches stored locally on devices could become an alternative source of data retrieval, even when messages themselves are no longer accessible within the app.
Meanwhile, interest in decentralized and privacy-focused communication tools has been rising amid increasing geopolitical tensions and internet restrictions. Applications like Bitchat, a peer-to-peer messaging platform using Bluetooth mesh networks, allow users to communicate without relying on traditional internet infrastructure.
Reports indicate that during a nationwide social media ban in Nepal in 2025, more than 48,000 users downloaded such decentralized messaging tools. At the same time, VPN usage has surged globally as users attempt to bypass restrictions and access blocked platforms.
Durov added that government efforts to restrict apps like Telegram have often had the opposite effect, pushing users toward VPNs and alternative privacy tools instead of centralized, regulated messaging systems.

XRP is trending within a giant 9-year ascending triangle on the 1-month chart which formed in 2017.

Its recent notable price action was a rejection near the upper resistance in August 2025.

Now, following the resistance rejection, XRP could follow the same script it has followed since 2017 and retreat to the triangle’s floor.
