Switzerland’s Crypto Valley funding rose 37% in 2025 as TON led deals
Switzerland’s Crypto Valley captured 47% of European blockchain venture funding in 2025, raising $728 million across 31 deals, according to an annual report released Wednesday by venture firm CV VC.

Globally, blockchain venture funding rose 30% to $15.5 billion across 986 deals last year, while Crypto Valley’s total climbed 37% from $531 million in 2024, the report said.

One deal did much of the heavy lifting. The Open Network (TON) accounted for $400 million of Crypto Valley’s 2025 funding haul, followed by Sygnum Bank at $58 million, stablecoin platform M0 at $40 million, Impossible Cloud Network at $34 million and CratD2C at $30 million, according to the report.

Blockchain networks attracted 62% of total funding, followed by infrastructure at 14%, centralized financial services at 10% and decentralized finance applications at 10%, the report said.

Crypto Valley took 47% of Europe’s funding

Crypto Valley’s $728 million accounted for 47% of the total VC blockchain funding across Europe and 5% of the global blockchain funding in 2025, highlighting the Swiss blockchain ecosystem’s growing role in the European blockchain industry.

“Nearly half of all European blockchain investment is now flowing into Crypto Valley,” said Mathias Ruch, founder and CEO of Crypto Valley, calling it a sign of a “maturing ecosystem” focused on infrastructure, finance and the convergence of “frontier technologies” driving digital innovation.

He noted that the XRP Ledger isn’t proof of stake, but highlighted that other infrastructure is in place for holders to earn yields. Expert Reveals How Holders Can Earn Passive IncomeIn an X post, Cage stated that in the next few years, crypto investors will likely be able to earn 5% to 10% on their holdings in multiple ways. He specifically alluded to XRP, noting it isn’t proof of stake, but that yield is coming through a new infrastructure being built. Additionally, he mentioned cross-chain yield, with the Flare network already providing ways for XRP holders to earn yield on its network. Other firms of yields for holders could also come through ‘Set it and forget it Yield accounts,’ wallets, applications, and exchanges that embed yields for several products. Cage also cited risky DeFi products that could give XRP holders up to 20% yield but advised against them. He described Collateralized Debt Positions (CDPs) as the ‘big one’ for holders to earn yields, in which they use their holdings as collateral. They can borrow against their XRP, access liquidity without selling their asset, and the loans are not taxable events. Lower-than-expected PPI figures suggest that inflation growth is not accelerating as much as feared, which typically supports higher-risk investments like Bitcoin.

However, some analysts note that inflation is still trending relatively high overall, which keeps expectations around interest rate cuts from the US Federal Reserve limited.

The failed talks prompted Washington to impose a naval blockade on Iranian ports, escalating tensions in a conflict that began on February 28 and has reportedly claimed around 5,000 lives. Despite the setback, officials from Pakistan, Iran, and several Gulf states indicated that negotiating teams may return to the table later this week.
Trump suggested urgency around the situation, hinting that a significant development could emerge within the next 48 hours. Vice President JD Vance echoed that sentiment, noting Trump’s pursuit of a “grand bargain” with Tehran while acknowledging the deep mistrust that continues to define relations between the two countries.
At the center of the dispute remains Iran’s nuclear program. The US has proposed a 20-year suspension of all nuclear activity, while Iran has countered with a shorter three-to-five-year freeze. Washington is also demanding the complete removal of enriched nuclear material from Iranian territory, leaving key gaps in the negotiating framework.
According to reports, backchannel communications following the failed talks have narrowed differences on some issues, though a final agreement remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, the conflict has disrupted global energy flows, with Iran effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz since the war began. Oil prices briefly surged above $100 per barrel before easing on renewed hopes of diplomacy. The IMF has since warned that prolonged elevated energy prices could push the global economy closer to recessionary conditions.
