Cryptocurrency prices are broadly holding steady on Monday, with Bitcoin ($BTC) trading above its short-term $77,000 support, Ethereum ($ETH) above the $2,100 demand area and Ripple ($XRP) hovering above $1.36.

US-Iran deal optimism lifts risk sentiment

The United States (US) and Iran appear to be closing in on a deal to end the war in the Middle East and open the Strait of Hormuz, whose continued closure is exerting immense pressure on global Oil and Gas supplies.

US President Donald Trump said over the weekend that the peace agreement had been largely negotiated. The two countries are reportedly finalizing a 60-day ceasefire that could pave the way for a gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, end the blockade of Iranian ports, and allow discussions on a potential nuclear deal, according to AP News.

Sentiment toward risk assets, including crypto, is improving. The Fear and Greed Index is up at 30 in the Fear Territory on Monday, up from 25 in the Extreme Fear zone the day before. However, a sustained increase in risk appetite remains necessary to underpin a more robust bullish trend.

Price analysis: Bitcoin bulls strive to regain trend control

Bitcoin trades at at $77,350, keeping a soft bearish bias as it sits below the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $81,335 while holding above the 50-day and 100-day EMAs clustered just under $77,000. This configuration suggests the broader uptrend remains capped in the medium term, even as the rising EMAs provide nearby dynamic support.

Momentum signals are mixed, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovering around the neutral 48 area on the daily chart and the Money Flow Index (MFI) slipping into oversold territory near 29, At the same time, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) histogram remains below zero on the same chart, hint

HYPE briefly overtakes Dogecoin, privacy tokens slide as US strikes on Iran rattle markets

Privacy tokens gave back the loudest share of the gains crypto markets had been holding onto.

Zcash ($ZEC) dropped 5.2% over 24 hours to $619, the biggest pullback among the top 20 by market cap, though the token is still up 8.2% over the past seven days, per CoinDesk data. Monero (XMR) fell 4% to $378.

Both have been among the strongest performers across crypto over the past several weeks, with $ZEC drawing institutional attention after Multicoin Capital's stake disclosure earlier this month and the broader narrative around privacy tokens.

A 5% drop after that kind of run reads as profit-taking rather than fresh selling, since the structural buyers in privacy tokens have been adding through the rally, not distributing into it.

Hyperliquid's $HYPE token traded above Dogecoin's market cap during Asian hours before pulling back, with $HYPE down 4% to $59 and off 0.8% to $0.1009. $HYPE is still up 23.6% over the past seven days on the back of last week's SpaceX pre-IPO perpetual launch on Hyperliquid.

Tron (TRX) was the lone gainer among the top 10, up 2.6% to $0.3739 and 4.8% over the past seven days. Bitcoin held near $76,500, ether sat at $2,087, and Solana traded at $83.97, all in tight ranges with no major move in either direction.

The macro backdrop drove the cautious tone. US Central Command confirmed strikes on missile launch sites in Iran and boats attempting to place mines in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the action as defensive.

Brent crude rose almost 2% to $98 a barrel, bouncing back from Monday's 7% slump when London and New York were closed for holidays. The dollar strengthened against all G-10 peers, gold pulled back 0.6% to $4,545, and S&P 500 futures held a 0.6% gain after Monday's US market closure.

Crypto PAC Fairshake backs Menefee with $5M in TexasA crypto PAC affiliated with Fairshake has poured $5 million into a Texas congressional runoff ahead of Tuesday’s vote.

Protect Progress, an affiliate of the crypto-backed Fairshake PAC, spent $5 million supporting Democratic challenger Christian Menefee in Tuesday’s Texas 18th District runoff and a further $2.8 million opposing incumbent Al Green, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Fairshake reported $193 million cash on hand heading into 2026.

The Kalshi prediction market gave Menefee a 91% probability of winning, with Polymarket at a similar figure. Total betting volume on the parallel Texas Republican Senate race between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn topped $16 million, with Paxton holding roughly 96% odds following a Trump endorsement.

Why Green’s seat became a priority for Fairshake
Al Green has been among the more vocal crypto critics in Congress. He voted against both the $GENIUS Act stablecoin bill and the Clarity Act, and Stand With Crypto awarded him an F grade. “I am an unbought, liberated, unafraid Democrat, unbought by crypto cash,” Green told colleagues on the House floor, accusing Menefee of making a “deal with the devil” by accepting Fairshake support.

Fairshake, backed primarily by Ripple Labs and Coinbase, also secured the endorsement of the Blockchain Leadership Fund, backed by Anchorage Digital and Chainlink Labs, in the Menefee race. Menefee was elected to Congress in a January 2026 special election and quickly became the industry’s preferred candidate over Green.
