#BILL: Human-AI Collaboration Network Bitcoin, ether, XRP, dogecoin lag a nine-week stocks rally as ETF demand cools

The S&P 500's longest weekly winning streak since 2023 and Brent crude settling near $92 on U.S.-Iran ceasefire hopes have failed to pull bitcoin and ether (ETH) higher, with the two largest cryptocurrencies finishing the week down nearly 3% as cooling spot bitcoin ETF inflows reinforced the pullback.

The S&P 500 posted its ninth consecutive weekly gain on Friday, the longest such run since 2023 and a streak matched only a handful of times in the past four decades, putting the index up almost 20% from its March lows.

Brent crude settled around $92 a barrel and Treasuries climbed on the week, trimming some of their war-driven losses.

The macro tailwind has come on hopes the U.S. and Iran will sign off on a 60-day ceasefire extension. President Donald Trump said Friday he was ready to make a "final determination" on a preliminary agreement but restated his demand that any deal require Iran to abandon its nuclear program, surrender its enriched uranium and open the Strait of Hormuz.

Crypto did not move with the tape. Bitcoin slipped 2.6% over the past seven days to $73,445, ether 2.5% to $2,011, solana (SOL) 2.2% to $82.42 and TRON's TRX 5.6%, its worst weekly drop in the top 10, according to CoinDesk data.

The exception was the smaller side of the leaderboard. Hyperliquid's HYPE token ripped 19.4% on the week to $65 as sentiment for the asset continues to grow. Intercontinental Exchange chief Jeffrey Sprecher praised the decentralized perpetuals venue at a Bernstein conference and calling it "bigger than NASDAQ." BNB closed up 1.9% and XRP eked out a 0.7% weekly gain.

Leverage spikes as on-chain sentiment weakens for Bitcoin bulls 

Zooming out, Bitcoin is showing a clear divergence across multiple timeframes.

Technically, BTC is mostly playing out its typical May setup. After April’s strong rally, the market entered May with a more cautious tone, and Bitcoin has followed that path with a 3.5% correction so far, its weakest monthly ROI since February.

But the story changes on the higher timeframe.

Despite the monthly pullback, Bitcoin is still up nearly 8% this quarter. In fact, Q2 is shaping up to be BTC’s strongest quarter since Q2 2025, when the price exploded nearly 30% higher.

That said, with on-chain signals weakening and macro conditions still looking shaky, expecting Bitcoin to repeat that kind of aggressive Q2 rally may be too optimistic

So far, Q2 has been heavily equities-driven. As highlighted in the chart below, the S&P500 is up 16% compared to Bitcoin’s 8% rally. That means almost 2x more capital rotating into U.S equities versus $BTC – Evidence of a clear investor preference for traditional risk assets over crypto at this stage of the cycle.

In this context, the upcoming IPO wave could further widen this gap.

Notably, the impact is already showing up in Bitcoin’s technical structure. Despite $BTC still being up roughly 8% in Q2, May’s pullback has dragged the price action back towards the $70K-region, with the market increasingly pricing in the risk of a breakdown below that level.

Meanwhile, the S&P500 is up nearly 5% over the same period, reinforcing the equities-led momentum currently driving broader risk markets. Against this backdrop, the growing distribution risk around Bitcoin [$BTC] doesn’t really look like a fluke, but more like a strategic rotation in positioning.

To separate strategic positioning from a short-term rotation, institutional flows become a key signal.

The logic is simple – During a normal correction, markets usually deleverage, smart money starts accumulating, and Bitcoin moves into consolidation before attempting a rebound. But this cycle does not seem to be following that typical setup, as distribution risk has climbed sharply to record highs this year.
