According to monitoring by Beating, Elon Musk announced on X that xAI is planning to open-source the base model of Grok 4.2 by the end of 2026. The model reportedly contains around 0.5 trillion (500 billion) parameters.
While the parameter size is relatively modest compared to the most extreme large-scale models, Musk emphasized that the open-source release will still provide strong practical value for the developer community, particularly in natural language processing and basic reasoning tasks.
However, he also acknowledged limitations in the current underlying model. Due to issues in the quality, coverage, and balance of training data, Grok 4.2 still struggles with high-difficulty programming and complex problem-solving tasks. Despite this, the 500B-parameter base model continues to show solid performance in everyday NLP workloads and foundational reasoning.
This move continues xAI’s broader open-source strategy. In March 2024, the company previously open-sourced Grok-1, a 314B-parameter model, which was one of the largest open-source AI models at the time and drew significant industry attention.
With Grok 4.2 expected to go open-source, xAI is further pushing the boundaries of openness in large-scale AI development, intensifying competition in the rapidly evolving open-model ecosystem.

Ledn, a leading company in cryptocurrency-backed lending, projects that the market for bitcoin-collateralized loans could climb to $1 trillion within the next decade. This forecast is based on a striking contradiction: despite strong consumer demand, actual adoption of these products remains limited.

Strong interest, but adoption still trails

In a joint study with Protocol Theory, Ledn surveyed 1,244 cryptocurrency holders in the United States and Australia. An overwhelming 88% of respondents said they seriously consider using a crypto-backed loan or credit card. Yet, only 14% reported actually having used such products, underlining a significant gap between intent and action.

Researchers described this gap as “a six-to-one difference between consideration and use.” While curiosity runs high, the number of people who put that interest into practice remains much lower.

Ledn co-founder Mauricio Di Bartolomeo highlighted the readiness of customer demand, explaining that “what lags behind is the infrastructure that will deliver confidence for borrowers.”

Ethereum’s recent pullback is being interpreted as a necessary reset within a larger cycle. Crypto analyst Rios noted on X that ETH’s nearly 19% drop could be a cycle reset that helps clear out excessive weak market positioning before a stronger move higher.

Historically, sharp corrections have often occurred during broader uptrends, serving as periods where the market recalibrates before momentum returns into ETH aggressively. At the same time, long-term holders have reportedly maintained their accumulation while interest surrounding spot ETF developments and on-chain network activity remains resilient.

According to Rios, these factors suggest that investor conviction has not materially weakened despite the recent volatility. This move is more like the end of a trend reversal than a volatility reset within a larger bullish structure. However, if the ETH price stabilizes in this region, the next recovery phase could pave the way for a stronger upside momentum than expected.

Ethereum [$ETH] has been the focus of attention in the stablecoin space lately. According to data from Dune Analytics, Ethereum manages roughly $190 billion of the approximately $322 billion stablecoin market.

This indicates that about 55% of all stablecoins are held by Ethereum. Additionally, only $60 billion is handled by all other blockchains combined, compared to roughly $90 billion handled by TRON [TRX].

In fact, the entire supply nearly doubled in just 24 months, and Ethereum’s market share held steady. Remarking on the same, Leon Waidmann—Head of Research at Lisk—noted,

Stablecoins picked their settlement layer a long time ago.

$ETH price action raises eyebrows
This coincided with Ethereum [$ETH] trading around $2,116.40 after a drop of 4.4% in the past 24 hours.

Needless to say, this is startling, though, because since February 2026, $ETH has been trading below $2445. Even with these sideways and stagnant moves, $ETH continues to rule the stablecoin market.

Factors behind $ETH dominating the stablecoin space
This may be due to a number of factors. For example, when a company like Circle, Fidelity, or BlackRock transfers $50 million, they don’t care if the gas fee is $5.00 or $0.05. Unchangeable security is what matters to them.

Additionally, it is mathematically the most costly blockchain in the world to attack, with over 39.2 million $ETH staked to secure the network.
