Project Texas emerged as a strategic initiative devised by TikTok to address pressing national security concerns raised by the U.S. government. This project comprises the establishment of a U.S. subsidiary named U.S. Data Security (USDS), which acts as a centralized body responsible for managing the data of U.S. users. USDS will operate independently, leveraging Oracle Cloud infrastructure to store user information safely.

By implementing Project Texas, TikTok aims to reassure U.S. stakeholders that user data is handled with an added layer of security and oversight, straying from any perceived vulnerabilities tied to its Chinese ownership by ByteDance.
