Toyota's financial division is launching a tokenized bond that retail investors will be able to purchase directly through the Japanese automaker's mobile payment app, Toyota Wallet.
Toyota Finance announced on Tuesday: applications are now open for the one-year bond, with a minimum investment of 100,000 Japanese yen ($676). Toyota Finance will offer the bond directly, so investors will not need a brokerage account.
The 1 billion yen bond offers an annual interest rate of 1.72% and will be managed on blockchain infrastructure provided by Japanese security token specialist BOOSTRY.
The automaker stated that the direct sale will combine application submission, communication with bondholders, and investor benefits within a single ecosystem.
Investors can also earn Toyota Wallet points and be eligible for perks such as tickets to Fuji Speedway and the opportunity for test drives, including Lexus vehicles and select classic Toyota models.
This is Toyota Finance's second security token bond format following its debut issuance in March 2025, which was sold through brokerages.
