Abstract

StonkBrokers, a project by Web3 developer team CLUTCH on Robinhood Chain, gives 4444 pixel-style NFT "brokers" an active role in decentralized finance. Each NFT is linked to an ERC-6551 token-bound account that can hold assets like stock tokens. The NFT can be activated by staking the project's ERC-20 token, STONKBROKER, to increase its weight for receiving rewards. The STONKBROKER token is also used to mint or swap for NFTs via the Anvil NFT AMM. Rewards in the form of stock tokens are funded primarily by a portion of the ETH trading fees generated on Anvil. Community members can trigger a "Clock In" function to convert accumulated ETH into stock tokens, which are then distributed to the token-bound accounts of activated NFTs based on their staking tier. The project also allows NFT holders to use their assets as collateral to borrow STONKBROKER tokens. Looking ahead, CLUTCH plans to launch Stonk Launcher, a token launchpad, and Stonk Exchange, a Vote Directed DEX (vDEX) built on Uniswap V3 architecture where STONKBROKER holders can vote to direct fee flows. While the project introduces a novel model where NFTs function as operable financial accounts, it is still in development. Its long-term viability hinges on the successful launch of its planned products, sustainable protocol revenue, and navigating risks like market volatility and smart contract security.

After most NFTs are bought into a wallet, their main job is to 'lie dormant'.

StonkBrokers, however, has assigned on-chain work to 4,444 pixelated brokers: each NFT comes with its own wallet capable of receiving stock tokens; holders can activate it using the project's token to increase reward weight, or use it as collateral for loans. CLUTCH is also planning a token launch and decentralized trading products around these NFTs and the related token STONKBROKER.

The market has shown high enthusiasm for this design. According to GMGN data, the StonkBrokers token STONKBROKER's market cap once exceeded $15 million, with a 24-hour increase of over 300%, surging more than 14-fold in the past 2 days, and currently fluctuating around a market cap of $10 million. OpenSea data shows the StonkBrokers NFT floor price has also risen to 1.63 ETH.

Who is CLUTCH, and what is StonkBrokers?

CLUTCH, more fully named Clutch Labs, is an independent Web3 development team focused on on-chain market infrastructure. Its publicly available products involve directions such as prediction markets, NFT liquidity protocols, perpetual contracts, on-chain games, and AI Agents.

The CLUTCH website lists 0xSimpleFarmer as a project builder, and their X account also introduces themselves as the founder of Clutch Markets.

CLUTCH did not start developing products with StonkBrokers. According to its website timeline, the team initially entered with on-chain parlay prediction markets, later launching products including prediction markets, Clutch Puppies, Pixel Pups, NFT marketplaces, and the Anvil NFT AMM on networks like Arbitrum, ApeChain, and Ethereum.

StonkBrokers can be understood as CLUTCH's attempt to combine its previous NFT, AMM, and DeFi experience after moving to Robinhood Chain.

The project first started as an experimental project developed by the team on the Robinhood Chain testnet during the Arbitrum Buildathon. 0xSimpleFarmer stated that this beta version was showcased at the event by the Robinhood Chain team. Approximately seven months later, the project launched on the Robinhood Chain mainnet on July 17, 2026, completing the issuance of 4,444 NFTs.

The mainnet launch of StonkBrokers is described by the project as a 'free mint', but 'free' here only refers to the NFT minting price being 0. It does not mean all participants could obtain NFTs at zero cost. Users needed to burn Pup Cup NFTs on Ethereum or Clutch Puppies NFTs on ApeChain before the deadline to receive corresponding StonkBrokers minting spots, with one old NFT corresponding to one spot. This channel is now closed, and all 4,444 StonkBrokers have been minted. To obtain an NFT now, one must purchase it via the Anvil AMM or secondary markets.

How are the NFT, bound account, and STONKBROKER token connected?

Each StonkBroker NFT is linked to an ERC-6551 Token-Bound Account.

In simple terms, the NFT is not just a picture in a wallet; it itself owns an on-chain account. This account can hold ERC-20 tokens or other on-chain assets, and control of the account transfers with the NFT ownership: whoever owns the NFT can control its bound wallet.

The NFT receives initial stock tokens upon minting, and subsequent stock token rewards also go directly into its bound account. If a StonkBroker's bound account holds stock tokens, these assets will transfer to the new owner along with the NFT.

The StonkBroker NFT is a non-fungible ERC-721 asset with a total supply of 4,444; STONKBROKER is a freely divisible and transferable ERC-20 token. The two are connected via CLUTCH's Anvil NFT AMM.

The protocol sets a base exchange unit of 666,666 STONKBROKER for each NFT. Users can pay 666,666 STONKBROKER and a transaction fee in ETH to the Anvil treasury to receive the next NFT from the treasury; to target a specific numbered NFT, they can use the 'snipe' function (with a higher ETH fee). The project's current documentation lists ETH transaction fees as 10% for standard exchange and 15% for specifying an NFT, though actual parameters should be confirmed on the trading interface and via contract calls.

This structure addresses some NFT liquidity issues to an extent. Traditional NFT trading relies on buyers and sellers listing orders. If an NFT temporarily has no buyer, the holder might find it difficult to exit immediately. Anvil establishes a protocol exchange channel between an NFT and an ERC-20 token of the same series.

It's important to note that 'each NFT corresponds to 666,666 tokens' should not be misinterpreted as a risk-free price guarantee. Both NFTs and STONKBROKER will fluctuate with market trades, and the actual value paid or received by users is also influenced by token price, ETH fees, treasury inventory, and protocol parameters.

Furthermore, Anvil provides a protocol-level exchange channel with 10%/15% ETH fees. This is better than having no liquidity, but it is not a low-cost, high-efficiency liquidity solution.

From Activation to Clock In: How are stock token rewards generated?

However, the initial stock token funding and subsequent rewards are two different mechanisms. Subsequent stock token rewards supported by Anvil transaction fees will only be distributed to activated StonkBrokers, with weight calculated based on activation level.

Merely holding a StonkBroker does not automatically qualify for future stock token rewards. Holders must first activate the NFT using STONKBROKER tokens on the project page to include it in the reward distribution system.

The current StonkBrokers documentation sets five activation tiers: the base tier requires 66,666 STONKBROKER, the highest tier requires 1,666,666 STONKBROKER, with corresponding reward weights increasing from 1x to approximately 3.33x.

According to current contract parameters, 50% of the StonkBroker activation fee is burned by default, and 50% goes to the protocol. After a real ownership transfer of the NFT, the previous activation status is cleared, and the new holder needs to reactivate. However, stock tokens already in the bound account are not cleared.

Funding for stock token rewards currently mainly comes from Anvil's ETH transaction fees. According to current documentation, 70% of these fees go to the StockBooster, and 30% to the protocol. When the StockBooster accumulates to a set condition, any user can call the 'Clock In' function and pay gas to trigger the protocol to swap ETH for the currently configured stock tokens, which are then distributed to each NFT's bound wallet based on activation weight.

The entire process can be simplified as:

ETH fees generated from NFT trades on Anvil → 70% of fees go to StockBooster → Community user calls Clock In → ETH swapped for stock tokens → Stock tokens enter bound accounts of activated NFTs.

From NFT Lending to Launcher and vDEX

On this foundation, StonkBrokers also offers NFT collateralized lending. Holders can lock their NFT into a Loan Vault to borrow principal denominated in STONKBROKER. The documentation lists the principal benchmark as 666,666 STONKBROKER. Borrowing fees are paid upfront in ETH, calculated based on loan duration, a 15% annual rate, and the ETH market value corresponding to the NFT.

Borrowing fees are also allocated with 70% to the StockBooster and 30% to the protocol. After repaying the agreed amount of STONKBROKER, the borrower can retrieve the NFT; overdue payments incur additional ETH fees, and persistent default may lead to loss of the collateralized NFT.

In addition, StonkBrokers will subsequently launch the Stonk Launcher launch platform and Stonk Exchange on July 30.

The launch platform supports issuance configurations like fixed price, bonding curve, and custom issuance. According to the project design, this step will automatically create LP positions, fee distribution contracts, and a dedicated staking vault for the token. Token holders can deposit newly issued tokens into the staking vault and share corresponding LP fees proportionally.

The project describes Stonk Launcher as a launch platform governed and sharing fee streams with STONKBROKER holders and activated StonkBroker NFTs. Part of the fees and royalties generated by the Launcher are planned to support stock token rewards. Specific allocation ratios and execution methods are subject to the final deployed mainnet contracts.

The accompanying Stonk Exchange is scheduled to launch on August 29 at 20:00 ET, corresponding to the morning of August 30 Beijing time. The project calls it a 'Vote Directed DEX', or vDEX, meaning the flow of transaction fees can be directed by voting.

At the basic trading level, Stonk Exchange plans to adopt the Uniswap V3 architecture. Users can perform token swaps, create concentrated liquidity pools, and allocate funds within custom price ranges. Unlike traditional AMMs that spread liquidity evenly across the entire price range, Uniswap V3 liquidity providers can concentrate capital in price ranges expected to be more active to improve capital efficiency. However, once the price moves outside the selected range, the LP position may stop earning trading fees and face risks like impermanent loss.

Project documentation outlines three trading fee tiers: 0.05% for relatively stable trading pairs, 0.3% for ordinary pairs, and 1% for assets with lower liquidity or higher volatility. STONKBROKER is planned as a governance tool, allowing holders to vote on the direction of part of the fees, such as which liquidity pools or ecosystem incentive programs receive support.

It is important to distinguish: existing materials have not confirmed that transaction fees generated by Stonk Exchange will consistently flow into the StockBooster or stock token reward system. What is currently confirmed is that the flow of these fees will be determined by STONKBROKER governance; whether they are used for stock token rewards still depends on the final contract design and governance outcomes.

Summary

The most noteworthy aspect of StonkBrokers might not be 'how much ETH an NFT has risen to' or 'what market cap the token has reached', but its attempt to answer a long-standing question plaguing the NFT market: beyond profile pictures and community identity, can an NFT become a truly operable on-chain account and have an ongoing relationship with trading, lending, and RWA?

CLUTCH has deployed some mechanisms to the mainnet, but subsequent modules like Stonk Launcher and Stonk Exchange remain to be delivered. Whether StonkBrokers ultimately forms a sustainable on-chain financial system or merely completes a flashy product experiment during a period of high volatility still needs to be answered by real protocol revenue, subsequent product delivery, and more thorough security audits.

Meanwhile, the Robinhood Chain ecosystem is still in its early stages, with network activity, asset liquidity, and infrastructure maturity yet to be observed. StonkBrokers also faces uncertainties like smart contract security, team delivery, governance parameter adjustments, and changing regulatory policies. Its NFTs, STONKBROKER token, and related stock tokens could experience significant price volatility. The stock token rewards mentioned by the project are not equivalent to stable income or traditional stock dividends, and participants still need to fully assess related risks.

Related Questions

QWhat is the core innovation of the StonkBrokers NFT project by CLUTCH?

AThe core innovation is that each StonkBrokers NFT has its own ERC-6551 Token-Bound Account (a self-custodied wallet). This allows the NFT to hold assets like stock tokens, making it an active financial instrument rather than a static collectible. The project connects these NFTs to a DeFi ecosystem involving activation, rewards, lending, and upcoming launchpad/DEX products.

QHow does an NFT holder earn stock token rewards in the StonkBrokers system?

ATo earn stock token rewards, an NFT holder must first 'activate' their StonkBroker NFT by locking STONKBROKER tokens, which sets a reward weight. The reward funds primarily come from 70% of the ETH trading fees generated on the Anvil NFT AMM. When the 'StockBooster' accumulates enough ETH, any user can trigger a 'Clock In' function to swap the ETH for stock tokens, which are then distributed to the binding accounts of activated NFTs based on their weight.

QWhat is the purpose of the STONKBROKER (ERC-20) token within the StonkBrokers ecosystem?

AThe STONKBROKER token serves multiple purposes: 1) It is used to activate StonkBroker NFTs for earning rewards. 2) It acts as the medium of exchange in the Anvil AMM for minting/redeeming NFTs. 3) It is the governance token for the upcoming Stonk Launcher and Stonk Exchange (vDEX), allowing holders to vote on fee distributions and other parameters. 4) It is the principal currency for NFT-backed loans from the Loan Vault.

QWhat are the main future products planned for the StonkBrokers project?

AThe main planned future products are: 1) Stonk Launcher: A token launchpad scheduled for July 30, supporting fixed-price, bonding curve, and custom launches. 2) Stonk Exchange (vDEX): A 'Vote Directed DEX' based on Uniswap V3 architecture, scheduled for August 29/30, where STONKBROKER holders can vote to direct trading fee flows to specific liquidity pools or incentives.

QWhat are some key risks or uncertainties mentioned regarding the StonkBrokers project?

AKey risks and uncertainties include: 1) The project's core sustainability depends on real protocol revenue and the successful delivery of future products (Launcher, vDEX). 2) It operates on the relatively new Robinhood Chain, which has early-stage ecosystem risks regarding network activity and liquidity. 3) There are inherent risks like smart contract security, team execution, governance parameter changes, and regulatory shifts. 4) All assets involved (NFTs, STONKBROKER tokens, stock tokens) are subject to high price volatility, and stock token rewards are not equivalent to stable income or traditional stock dividends.
