Adjustment factors are designed to prevent futures traders' forced liquidation losses from exceeding account equity. HTX's coin-margined delivery futures uses a tiered adjustment factor system, where each of the five tiers is based on the number of contracts held. The larger your net position, the higher the tier and the greater the associated risk.

Scenario 1:

Leverage: 10x

Open Positions: Weekly Long: 1,200 contracts

Weekly Short: 2,000 contracts

Net Position: 800 contracts (= |1,200 - 2,000| )

Adjustment Factor: 5% (based on 10x leverage and 800 net contracts)

Scenario 2:

Leverage: 20x

Open Positions:

Weekly Long: 1,000; Weekly Short: 4,000

Biweekly Long: 8,000; Biweekly Short: 5,000

Quarterly Long: 5,000; Quarterly Short: 0

Biquarterly Long: 3,000; Biquarterly Short: 3,000

Net Position: 11,000 contracts (See breakdown below)

Weekly: |1,000 - 4,000| = 3,000

Biweekly: |8,000 - 5,000| = 3,000

Quarterly: |5,000 - 0| = 5,000

Biquarterly: |3,000 - 3,000| = 0

Adjustment Factor: 28% (based on 20x leverage and 11,000 net contracts)
