Changer+ launches stablecoin-first self-custodial wallet to make stablecoins easier to use

Changer+ has launched a self-custodial stablecoin wallet designed to simplify holding, transferring, and using stablecoins. The wallet supports major stablecoins like USDT and USDC across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, BNB Chain, and Solana. Its core philosophy is that users should not need deep blockchain expertise to use their stablecoins; the technology's complexity should remain in the background. The wallet is self-custodial, ensuring users retain control of their private keys. It aims to reduce common friction points, such as the need to acquire separate native gas tokens for transactions on supported chains. Changer+ has undergone independent security audits and offers practical utilities like global eSIM data plans and a ticket marketplace. To celebrate the launch, new users can enjoy three free transactions per device on Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain from October 6 to November 6, 2026. Backed by a private family office, Changer+ focuses on long-term usability, security, and practical utility rather than speculative features. The app is available on iOS and Android.

New Stablecoin verUSD Launches With $100M In Institutional Commitments

A new stablecoin, verUSD, has launched with over $100 million in institutional commitments, targeting a specific emerging market: payments between autonomous AI agents and machines. Unlike stablecoins designed for human or corporate use, verUSD is built for machine-to-machine transactions that may require tiny, high-frequency payments for services like data or APIs, where traditional banking is inefficient. Initially launched as a multichain asset on networks including Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon, the project aims to provide infrastructure tailored for automated software commerce. While the $100 million represents launch commitments rather than circulating supply, and the token faces competition from established giants like USDT and USDC, Verona's move highlights a growing focus on the potential for blockchain-based payments in the autonomous AI economy.

NEAR Chain Abstraction Crosses 50M Lifetime Operations

NEAR Protocol's chain abstraction infrastructure has surpassed 50 million lifetime operations, marking a significant milestone in its effort to simplify the multi-chain user experience. The concept aims to hide blockchain complexity, allowing users to interact with networks like Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Solana through a single NEAR account and interface, without managing separate wallets, gas tokens, or bridges. This addresses the fragmentation problem in crypto, where users face a maze of technical hurdles. The 50 million operations figure indicates meaningful, large-scale usage, supported by an average of 450,000 monthly active account abstraction signers. NEAR is strategically focusing on usability, account abstraction, and user experience to differentiate itself, rather than competing solely on DeFi or speculation. As the crypto ecosystem remains inherently multi-chain, solutions that make cross-chain interaction seamless are becoming increasingly critical. This milestone demonstrates that NEAR's chain abstraction framework is progressing from theory to practical adoption, helping to make crypto feel more like a conventional internet product.

Wallet in Telegram rebrands to Walt as Gram wallet debuts

Telegram has restructured its cryptocurrency services around two main offerings: the new self-custodial Gram wallet and the rebranded broader crypto platform, Walt (formerly Wallet in Telegram). Gram wallet is now the default option in Telegram settings, focusing on payments, transfers, and purchases within the app. Walt, accessible via search, expands into services like trading, investing, and supporting assets across multiple blockchains. The two remain linked, with Walt enabling multichain deposits to the Gram wallet. This shift centralizes a self-custodial wallet for daily transactions while positioning Walt as a comprehensive crypto and financial products hub.

USDC Leads Crypto Card Spending Volume: Top-ups Reach $13.8 Billion

Stablecoins are increasingly being used as everyday spending money rather than just a tool within crypto markets. According to Cryptorank data, the cumulative volume of stablecoin card top-ups reached $13.8 billion by August 2026, growing nearly $10 billion in the past year, with monthly spending rising even during broader crypto market downturns. USDC currently leads in tracked card spending, while USDT's share is growing rapidly. This differs from the overall stablecoin market, where USDT dominates by circulation volume. The trend highlights USDC's development alongside fintech and payment infrastructure versus USDT's stronger ties to exchanges and remittances. Payments are also becoming multi-chain, with Base, Solana, and Polygon leading by spending volume, though the underlying blockchain may become less relevant to consumers. While using blockchain for funding, most crypto cards still rely on traditional systems like Visa/Mastercard, payment processors, and regulated issuers. Competition is now shifting to areas like asset storage, FX costs, rewards, and capital efficiency. The key test will be whether stablecoin-funded spending continues to grow without aggressive cashback subsidies, proving stablecoins can function as practical consumer money within existing merchant infrastructure.

MoonRush Launches Social Trading App Combining On-Chain Market Discovery and AI-Powered Risk Protection

MoonRush has launched a mobile social trading app for crypto markets, integrating on-chain token discovery with AI-powered risk protection. The platform allows users to explore trending tokens, track traders and public wallet activity, and access market data across multiple blockchains including Solana, Base, BNB Chain, and Robinhood. Unlike purely social-first platforms, MoonRush combines a market discovery experience with a social layer, providing context around wallet movements and social signals. Its AI system identifies potentially high-risk tokens, displaying warnings or disabling buy functions, but leaves final trading decisions to the user. Designed for mobile, the app consolidates discovery, research, and multi-chain trading into a single non-custodial experience, aiming to help traders make more informed decisions.

Aave weighs closing 6 V3 blockchain markets, offboarding 50 low-use reserves

A governance proposal in the Aave ecosystem recommends a major consolidation. It calls for shutting down Aave V3 markets on six blockchains (Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos) and offboarding 50 low-use token reserves, affecting approximately $98.1 million in supplied assets and $15.6 million in debt. The move follows the adoption of a new risk framework and aims to reduce the protocol's economic and technical risk. Notably, the Aptos market would be exited just 11 months after its launch due to low liquidity and revenue. The proposal emphasizes this is not a reversal of Aave's multichain strategy but a strategic refocus, with continuous risk assessment for all deployments to continue.

Should Developers Build on Corporate Chains Like Base and Robinhood? Five Key Risks to Consider

Should developers build on enterprise chains like Base and Robinhood? While offering enticing initial benefits like user access, these chains pose significant risks due to the inherent conflict of interest when the operator controls both the platform and a leading on-chain application. The primary lure is the promise of traffic and user distribution (e.g., through a parent company's app). However, five key risks emerge: 1. **Direct Competition**: The platform can use its exclusive data and positioning to launch competing products against third-party developers, mirroring cases like Amazon and Microsoft. 2. **Wallet Multi-Chain Reality**: Associated wallets (like Coinbase Wallet) must support multiple chains to remain competitive, diluting the promised exclusive traffic advantage for the enterprise chain. 3. **Exclusion by Platform Rivals**: Competing platforms (e.g., Coinbase vs. Robinhood) have no incentive to promote applications built on each other's chains, limiting growth avenues. 4. **Profit Squeeze**: The party controlling the end-user interface holds superior bargaining power and can capture a disproportionate share of value, squeezing developer profits. 5. **Unfulfilled Promises**: Promised traffic support can fail to materialize due to shifting platform priorities or strategic changes. In contrast, neutral blockchains like Ethereum and Solana avoid these platform risks. To mitigate risks on enterprise chains, developers should consider strategies like securing substantial onboarding grants, obtaining formal commitments (though these have weak historical enforceability), or, most effectively, pursuing a multi-chain deployment strategy while building independent user acquisition channels. Enterprise chains may be useful for initial cold-start user acquisition, but the core goal should be cultivating an independent user base rather than long-term dependence.
