Japanese mobile phone operator NTT Docomo to invest US$4 billion in Web3

NTT Docomo, Japan's largest mobile phone network, has pledged to invest up to 600 billion yen (US$4 billion) into Web3 infrastructure. According to a statement, the company will work with the Astar Foundation, developer of the public blockchain Astar network, and Accenture to accelerate the adoption of Web3. They will set up a consortium to allow individuals and businesses to use tokens for governance. The Japanese government currently owns a third of the stock of NTT Docomo's parent company, NTT.
