South Korean crypto exchange Upbit has added B3 to its Korean won market, giving local traders direct access to the Base-linked token.

Trading was first scheduled for 13:45 KST on May 7, before Upbit moved the start time to 14:00 KST.

B3 is a layer-3 blockchain built on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network developed with the OP Stack. The Upbit listing gives the token access to one of Asia’s most active retail crypto markets.

Exchange sets early trading limits

Upbit said deposits and withdrawals will only support B3 through the Base network. The exchange also asked users to confirm the contract address before sending funds. Deposits through unsupported networks may face a long refund process.

The exchange placed normal controls on early trading. Buy orders were restricted for about five minutes after launch. Upbit also limited low-price sell orders and restricted non-limit order types for about two hours

Upbit warned, “If a certain level of liquidity is not secured after the commencement of deposit and withdrawal services, the start of trading support may be postponed.” The notice shows the exchange kept room to adjust trading if market depth was weak.

B3 joins recent Upbit listing wave

The listing comes after several Upbit market additions drove fresh attention to selected tokens. As crypto.news reported yesterday, Dogwifhat rose after Upbit added WIF trading pairs against KRW, $BTC, and $USDT on May 6. The report also noted that new listings can expose traders to fast price swings.
Earlier, crypto.news reported that Centrifuge jumped more than 180% after Upbit announced trading support. Another report said Internet Computer added about $100 million in market value after Upbit opened ICP trading against KRW, $BTC, and $USDT.

Cryptocurrency analytics company CryptoQuant stated that while claims of Bitcoin hitting a bottom are becoming increasingly common, on-chain data has not yet confirmed this. According to the company’s analysis, in the current scenario where Bitcoin is trading around $80,870, the cost zones of losing investors are creating significant resistance to the price.

The analysis indicated that the realized cost prices of three different investor cohorts were above the current market price. Accordingly, investors who held Bitcoin for 3 to 6 months had a realized cost price of $88,880, while the group of investors who held it for 12 to 18 months had a cost level of $93,450. The highest supply was found in the 6- to 12-month investor group, at $111,850. CryptoQuant stated that each of these levels represents a “break-even point” for investors who have incurred losses.

Bitcoin funding rates are flashing one of the most bearish positioning signals in years, even as spot prices keep grinding higher.

Funding rates have been running near minus 4% annualized, James Aitchison, founder and CIO of Caerus Global, said during a panel at Consensus Miami 2026. That means longs are being paid to hold exposure, a rare setup that points to heavy short positioning.

“The longs are getting paid, which is quite a rarity,” Aitchison said. “On a 30-day basis, the lowest it has been this decade.”

The setup mirrors a broader derivatives disconnect. Bitcoin funding rates hit their most negative levels since 2023 in April, even as BTC pushed through $75,000 at the time. Aitchison said similar conditions have historically preceded positive returns over 30- to 365-day periods.
Bitcoin has rebounded from roughly $60,000 to the low $80,000s at the of writing. The move has forced traders to reassess whether old crypto-native signals still work in a market increasingly shaped by ETFs, basis trades and Wall Street distribution.

Spot bitcoin ETF demand has held through the drawdown. U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $1.6 billion so far this month, even as short-term holders sold.

That resilience has made ETF holders central to the current market structure. Dan Blackmore, chief commercial officer at Glassnode, said bitcoin is moving into a new regime as volatility falls and allocations become more strategic.

“We’re witnessing the early innings of the Wall Street machine and its impact on the crypto market,” Backmore said.
