Bitcoin’s price yet again failed to secure the resistance above $65,000 as the market conditions turn bearish. The token struggled below the range, despite a strong recovery from the lows around $57,650. Currently, the price is trading around $63,450 after experiencing a drop of nearly 2.76%, while trading volume increased by 23.85%. On the other hand, the whale wallets have been accumulating an enormous amount of $BTC over the past few days as retail participation seems to have weakened. The question now arises: can sustained whale buying help the $BTC price reclaim $65,500?

Bitcoin Price Prediction: Schwab's Jim Ferraioli Explains His $95,000 Estimate

Bitcoin may be trading above what some investors expected this year, but according to Charles Schwab's Head of Crypto Research, Jim Ferraioli, its "fair value" could actually be closer to $95,000.

Ferraioli said his valuation is based primarily on Bitcoin's mining economics, rather than short-term market sentiment.

Why $95,000?

"If you were to say what's the fair value for Bitcoin at these levels, I think it's probably about $95,000." He said.

He explained that the most efficient Bitcoin miners currently produce BTC at a cost of around $60,000, while less efficient miners are closer to $95,000. Drawing a comparison with traditional commodity markets, Ferraioli said that producers generally operate on relatively thin margins, making production costs a useful benchmark for estimating fair value.

Notably, the lower mining-cost estimate of around $60,000 represents a potential fundamental support zone. This level also lines up with Bitcoin's 200-week moving average, which has recently been around the $60,000-$62,000 range.

He also clarified that the figure isn't a price target, but rather a valuation based on the economics of Bitcoin production.

Due to a rare structural shift in BTC price triggered by miner capitulation, Bitcoin mining difficulty is poised for a historic annual decline, potentially dropping to 126.2 trillion.

The Bitcoin network is heading towards an unprecedented event since its inception. According to the latest statistics shared by analyst PlanB, Bitcoin's annual mining difficulty is on track for its first-ever net decline, falling from 148.3 trillion at the end of last year to 126.2 trillion.

It's important to emphasize that this annual mining difficulty decline is not the final outcome. It's only the end of July, and the network is expected to undergo five more rounds of automatic adjustments before December 31st. If BTC prices recover and mining rigs resume operation, the mining difficulty could still be higher than 2025 levels by the end of the year.

Nevertheless, the industry is currently confidently moving towards Bitcoin's first-ever annual difficulty deflation, creating a unique economic paradox: traditional mining is losing money, while mining stocks are rising due to artificial intelligence, generating a strong bullish signal for Bitcoin prices across the market.
